city taking legal action

As much as i think the Sun newspaper is a bag of shite (except the page 3 section of course!) , i can't really see why City are so upset over this ...... it's hardly an earth shattering article.
It's a lie thats why!! They have nothing to fill their comic so they come up with this dribble. Not that the Mirror is much better but if you wanna read the sun, read the previous days Mirror

A friend of mine was only asking the other day if I loved all the money at City, I actually answered that I preferred the way City were being run so professionally - and meant it! This is another good example of City not taking any shit - well done Gary & Co.

Bang on. Haven't we taken a solicitor onto the books and set up our own legal department rather than outsourcing it.

Its not the content....its sending out a message......that they will pursue them if they print lies.

I suspect the club have done that before ...... newspapers rarely get the message ..... and a judge/tribunal might not see this case as being that serious.

sense/reality

Mark Hughes has taken his squad out to the Gulf for pre-season and to meet club owner Sheik Mansour - who bought the club last year for £200million.
However, the sheik did not hand out Franck Muller watches worth £168,000 to each of City's first-team players, as has been previously reported.

STILL WRONG!

I'm glad we're not letting the likes of 'The Sun' piss all over us anymore. Just looking at the way the announcement on MCFC is worded;

The club is pursuing the matter legally and will do so in the most robust fashion possible.

It shows that we mean business. Also it sets a precedent, and maybe they'll think twice before publishing bullshit about us in the future.

Is it not best to let some of these articles slide. The way we are going the Sun could only print the truth about us. So if the Sun printed "City set to open Messi talks" now, then not many would believe it. And if we were we could try and keep it below the radar as much as possible.

But if we keep going at the sun so that it comes a point where they only print the truth then the furore caused by said headline could affect it adversely

its hardly a damning story though is it? bit of an over reaction i think.

I'd disagree. I thought it made the club / owners look bad. Angle of article was 'Rich Arabs dangling trinkets at their toys'. I'm glad it turned out to be swallocks (The Sun - oh why did I not know it would be shite). It had oh so many unsavoury undertones.

Well, that's my opinion anyway. To be honest I'm a bit dissappointed in myself, given everything we've seen of how our owners conduct themselves, to have even considered for a minute this might be real.

that only sends a message out to fans - a newspaper lawyer would shrug shoulders... sorry but it's true
