City v Arsenal post match discussion

Still can't figure out the Dzeko sub. Aguero fresh back from injury looking knackered and they took off our only out ball.

Last year Arsenal outplayed us at their place and had plenty of possession at ours.

I actually think they are better than last year. Having said that had we taken our chances we'd have one this.

Our problems I think stem from messing around with three at the back pre season. I think RM did that with Europe in mind but the PL is our bread and butter.

Secondly when we played well last year Silva was key. Now he is unrecognisable. He slows us down and his passing is piss poor.

Garcia is bedding in and will be fine. Rodwell ditto.

All the praise Vinny has recieved seems to make him think he is Beckenbauer. The truth is his distribution has always been poor. This is probably where Nasty comes in.

There has been a lot of rotating and it has made us disjointed.

However it is a long season and we have a great squad so we should come into our own.

The poor performance was down to two main reasons.
1. Champions League hang over of an exceptionally tough away game.
2. Just a poor performance.

Read through a lot of this thread and some people seem to be blaming Kompany. Kompany was great today. Read the game well, cleared danger and made timely interceptions. A very good performance. Lescott scored, but apart from that was awful. He single handedly almost gave away 3/4 goals himself. Zabeleta was weak at the back. Clichy too was decent. Dzeko was very good, linked up play well and held onto the ball. Was a bit loose with a few passers. Everyone else was poor. Silva was terrible and cost the team with a number of bad passes on the break. Sinclair is an average player.

Mancini was right to change things at the break to bring Rodwell. It helped City gain control of the game. However, he made a mistake taking off Dzeko, who was playing well. Should have been Aguero.

That apart he started with the team I expected. However, he should have started Nasticic for me.

I said it before the season started you needed to spend money to improve the squad with quality. You did not do that. You needed to buy players early to give them time to gel and the team to find an understanding you did not do that. This was down to the board and not Mancini. The very, very unlucky group you had, supping your energy for the league was bad luck/UEFA giving you the finger.

All in all you should still win the league.

Completely outplayed by Arsenal on our own patch. If Gervinho was a half decent player he could of got 2 or 3.

We have been poor all season. Mancini needs to stop pissing around with formations and go back to 4231.
Completely outplayed? Which game did you watch? They had their chances and so did we. Never were we "completely outplayed", stop being a mardarse.
They dominated the game. Their midfield controlled the tempo and Gervinho had 3 clear chances, Carzorla was unlucky with his effort and their full backs caused us all sorts of problems. We couldn't string 3 passes together and left huge holes in the midfield. They must of had at least 60% possession second half. Whenever they attacked we looked vulnerable.

What game were you watching?
Don't get me wrong, we were nowhere near our best but again you exaggerate by saying we were "unable to string more than 3 passes together". We had our own chances and passed it around their box in spells.

It could have gone either way today, but they did not dominate the whole match and we were not played out of the match. It was a coin toss who won today, and the coin fell on its side, draw.

Just got home and today was crap in every way. Crap performance, crap atmosphere. I don't know what is happening but we look half the team we were this time last season and we have ruthless rivals who will pull ahead if we don't sort it out. Today alone United took 2 more points than from the same fixture last year while we dropped 2. It's still early days and on paper the fixtures start to get kinder but if we keep playing like this then we won't win the league. PS: I can't believe how slow we are sometimes, so indirect and lethargic, are we the slowest team in the league?

Giving The Ball Away (arrrgh!)

What's happened?

Last season we were the best team at retaining possession. This season we keep on giving the ball away time after time.

The last 10 minutes against Madrid and today against Araenal are prime examples.

We need to get back to bascis. And dare I say it, Bobby should stop tinkering with the team/formation.
