Disappointing but the home record had to go sometime. Shame it was to Chelsea though. Seems the luck was with them and every loose ball went to them. Demichelis not the answer. Don't know why he stayed on. Can't understand why Milner wasn't used.

After they hit the post 3 times and we could have been down to 9 men or less, one thing they were not is "lucky".

well said..

- I was worried about a red card coming out, but thought Chelsea got away with a few niggling & persistent fouls and came out light.

everything still to play for, and I wouldn't like to be Norwich next weekend, and I think we'll see a different game in the F A Cup.

We should have signed two big players in the window to cover for injuries, loss of form etc...

Afraid our second choice players aren't up to it against the likes of chelski, then again we only play em twice a season in the league, will have to defend a lot better in the cup

beating City away 1-0 doesn't count for shit when they can lose to any team in the bottom half.

we were poor, that says more about Chelsea that they won with a shot from a rightback.

nowt to be worried about, onto the next game.

absolute bollocks, cant stand the twats but they were deserved winners. it doesnt matter who scored

The best team won tonight - and fair play to Chelsea - they are a very good side, who can attack and defend with equal quality. Something we haven't yet managed to balance properly.

They were helped hugely tonight by the face that we were missing Aguero, Nasri and, in particular, Fernandinho - alongside some appalling finishing from our attacking players, and a lumpen, uninspired strikeforce.

I'm not sure what Pellegrini could have done differently in midfield given our injuries though - Milner can't play the defensive role, Garcia and Fernandinho are injured. Rodwell?

But in terms of the season it's no biggie - we're second in the league, with a decent run of fixtures over the next few weeks to build up some momentum again.

I'm not sure I understand where all of the "that's our title aspirations over"-type drama queenery is coming from - we've lost one game - we're hardly out of the race!

Dont het all the demichelis hate one her. he was on his own more or less all game ffs. what else could he do?!

It's not a simple case blaming MDM. It is the same principle with Garcia, you can't play either of them alongside Yaya in a 2 man midfield. They could only be effective in a 3 man midfield. The only reason we can play with to in the middle if Fernandinho.

Losing this game had fook all to do with Pellers tactics. We lost the majority of 50/50 balls - it doesn't matter how many men you have in midfield if you don't keep the ball. Chelski were first to every loose ball, looked like they wanted it more, pressed us all the time and worked harder. Hazard also had a stormer.

We were poor today and didn't look sharp. Yaya lost the ball in a lot of one on ones today which he hardly ever does. Bad day for us to have a game like this but these things happen. Chelski deserved the win today. That is all.

Pellegrini hung us out to dry tonight - Some senior players need to be knocking on his door tomorrow - If he really thinks we can go two in midfield ALL the time (even with Fernandinho and Yaya} against the top teams then he needs his head testing!!!!

Has ANYONE any idea why we made only one substitution?

I would like to hear why and i am sure it will sound logical and reasoned, still miffed a bit though :(

I am baffled. We were desperate for a bit of magic from a star player. Such as Yaya. Why on earth did we not push him forward and have Milner and Rodwell holding. Yaya WOULD have won us free kicks at least and WOULD have scored.
