City v Chelsea Post Match Thread

tonight showed the error of not signing Mangala and Fernando needed cover imho to many fringe players not good enough at this level

Disappointing but the home record had to go sometime. Shame it was to Chelsea though. Seems the luck was with them and every loose ball went to them. Demichelis not the answer. Don't know why he stayed on. Can't understand why Milner wasn't used.

After they hit the post 3 times and we could have been down to 9 men or less, one thing they were not is "lucky".

well said..

- I was worried about a red card coming out, but thought Chelsea got away with a few niggling & persistent fouls and came out light.

everything still to play for, and I wouldn't like to be Norwich next weekend, and I think iwe'll see a different game in the F A Cup.

Play with that team and formation again and the result in the cup will be the same.
Mourinho took Pellers to school today.

Dont het all the demichelis hate one her. he was on his own more or less all game ffs. what else could he do?!

It's not a simple case blaming MDM. It is the same principle with Garcia, you can't play either of them alongside Yaya in a 2 man midfield. They could only be effective in a 3 man midfield. The only reason we can play with to in the middle if Fernandinho.

Exactly, mdm could do it all on his own so cant really blame him for the result. I though yaya looked rather lazy today especially defending

Said in the pre match thread playing a 2 man midfield with Yaya and MDM in the absence of Fernandinho was suicidal and so it proved.

Anyone who understands the game knows that will get absolutely bummed by a Chelsea 5 man midfield with bags of pace.

A truly bizarre selection especially when Milner would've thrived in such a battle.

If anything it shows our severe lack of depth in central midfield and probably signals the end for Rodwell if he cant get a game under such circumstances.

We would've 'gotten away with' the selection v a lower table team but Chlcsea are a damn fine side and were clearly going to expose it all night long.

Also really missed Nasri's retention. movement and vision and Aguero's all round brilliance.

I've also said many a time, to much derision, that Fernandinho is our best and most integral player. I rest my case after tonight.

Anyway, despite those cunts beating us twice we're still above them. We move on, get our focused heads back on, and keep doing what we're doing.

Yep, said this too.

Against the top, top teams, 2 against 5 just won't work. Bizarre that he didn't bring Milner on.

If you take 3 of your regular front 6 out when you're playing the top sides and by that i mean arse, Chelsea and Liverpuddle then you are likely to suffer. However despite this we are still second with a 'nice' run of fixtures ahead. Thought Navas and Komps played well tonite. With the rub of the green we might have snatched an ill deserved point. However as well as Chelsea could play because of our limitations IF we had parked the bus they would still be knocking on the door and that lack of clinical edge could well be their undoing. Our blank will be newspaper headlines........will it be a surprise if they draw one against the next team that parks the bus against them? Long way to go and half a team to come back. Heads up blues!

Can't complain at result, as soon as I heard fernandinho was out I was worried. Pablo couldn't get near Hazard, Nastasic seems to be going backwards with his development, Negredo and Dzeko was never going to work against Cahill and Terry and Demichelis did ok but he looked like a centre half playing in midfield.
On the bright side, Jovetic looks useful and Navas was our best player.
