City v Napoli Post Match Discussion Thread

Sadly everyone is banging on about being happy with a point against napoli why ? Napoli are an average side and will not be anywhere near winning the champions league, Italian league is not what it used to be, it maybe our first venture in the competition but was it not the same for the spuds last year ? And they smashed the Italian champions so all this first time business is shit, we have players who have won the champions league and world cup in our squad so inexperience is no excuse , and sadly Munich away will be much tougher than napoli at home, maybe tonight was the wake up call we needed .

watching the highlights now why didn't lescott stay with his man , kompany had to run over and try do his job.

When the attackers get it 100% right ( pace of the movement ,timing of the pas, weight of the pass) there is very little defenders can do about it.That's what Napoli did so whether Lescott or Vinnie were perfect is not the point. The mistake was in the midfield.

Lescott had a good defensive game, Vinnie made two shocking mistakes and one great goal line clearance. Not the worst result but we now need a big result in one of the away games which are more than capable of.

Fair assessment that.

Thing with Lescott is he's absolutely solid. You just the impression sometimes he's a hair's breadth from a calamity.

spuds won but hardly smashed anything. they had 1 shot in two full games.

yeah true mate, kompany had a poor game by his standards that's for sure though.
I'd like to see us pass and move a bit more quickly

You can only judge a team on what you see. I though Napoli were as good as any away team I've seen at Eastlands. They rode their luck at times but they were very resilient and were excellent on the counter

Thought Dzeko was our best by some margin, but do think Yaya was positive

Yep have no idea why Mancini took Dzeko off - looked soo good.

Anyone who is surprised about how we didn't get a win needs a wake up call. We bossed the game, but teams are not going to allow us to simply role up and win.

Gargano did a great job on Silva, you don't see him shut down like that often.
Hamsik in the second half was immense, very hard to deal with.
Surprised Mazzarri took Lavezzi off, his pace caused trouble all night.

Great game and a great start to the Champions League. What a ridiculous group we have.
