City v Spurs Post Match Thread

I was in shock after the Sunderland game - I'm still shaking my head in disbelief at that awesome attacking display and hammering SIX past the spuds.
Have to admit I got a bit annoyed at times when we sloppily gave the ball away but the players worked really hard to recover their errors.
Really pleased for Navas, he did what I expected of him when we signed him - played as a winger and fully deserved his two goals.
And then to find out the rags had conceded an equaliser in Fergie time just made the day even better.

Due to living in Germany, I only get to see the games via live streams now. Before today's game, I'd missed just one this season - the 7-0 over Norwich.
Had to go to a family dinner today (the girlfriend's, not mine), so wasn't able to watch the game. Said to Mrs Leipzig before the game that it'd be just typical of my luck for City to thrash Spurs today cos I'm not watching.
Just found out the score 30 minutes ago, and she's told me to never watch City again!
Ah well, I'll see you all in Munich anyway!

Apologies if this has been posted somewhere else, had a quick look round but couldn't see it anywhere else.

Manchester City fans may just have to be a bit patient today - that's a pretty alien concept in Engllish football these days.

When a team plays at home home, the crowd just wants to attack from start to finish.

And in today's tactical battle against Tottenham, that's just not going to happen.

There is ahuge difference of opinion regarding formations these days.

Wheter to play 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 combination or whatever combination it takes.

Take city for example, and their 4-4-2 playing system. Playing 2 up front will leave them exposed in the middle against some excellent ball players from Spurs.

But what does Manuel Pellegrini do? With the superstar strikers he has, it's impossible to leave more than one on the bench.

That's already happening with Edin Dzeko - to put another in the dugout would be stirring up trouble.

And when you have two such great forwards as Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo you might as well play to your strengths!

But it means Spurs can overrun them in midfield as will have three in the middle compared with City's two.

In todays paper by non other than Twitcher himself.

Well we were patient for all of 14 seconds. Overrun in midfield? Oh yeah of course we were.

At least he got one thing right with SA and An we do have two world class strikers but that's about as much of an insight or revelation as me saying the sun's going to rise in the morning.

What a complete and utter waste of skin Redknapp is.

Thanks for posting, made my night!! Well done Twitcher, spot on there!

Made my night too, showed it to Mrs Mav who knows as much about football as lamp post (case in point, there was an article about Micah Richards and she thought it was Shaun Wright-Phillips) and she said "Wow, he sounds like a right knob"

Due to the amount of laughing I was doing at the time, I forgot to add the next paragraph in the orignal post

It is an intriguing battle of wits and what Pellegrini will have to do is contain Tottenham as best he can.

And then you might find, surprisingly, that City have to wait four counter-attacks to get back at the away team.

I hope you do the decent thing and don't watch another game this season.

I was literally sitting next to their fans today in the lower tier. It was evident how much they hate us. Even now they are much more successful these days and have bigger fish to fry than us, they still hold on to that resentment from the cup final 30 years ago. Shows their small club mentality will never die.

Beautiful glory glory meltdown

Someone asked me earlier what time tottenham kicked off.

Apparently every 15 minutes wasn't the right answer.

Excellent!

Bloody hell, if we played away like we did home then we'd be bossing this league. No sight of Silva, Kompany who are both in my mind as big as Aguero yet we beat the spuds 6-0, a team we usually see as one of those that could slip us up, United 4-1, Norwich 7-0.... I have to say with Arsenal coming here in a month I seriously cannot see us being beaten by any other team but they will struggle to cope with what I saw yesterday.

Absolutely loved every second. Loved to see Aguerro battle instead of stop playing or fall over. Loved to see Negredo showing what a bargain he actually is. Loved to see Navas scoring. Twice. And at last being used as he should be used: pace and width with a pinperfect cross. Loved to see Fernandinho spreading aroundthese wonderful deep passes, loved to see Zabaleta battling and showing he's simply the best rightback in the PL, loved to see Nastasic, albeit 45 minutes, knowing the man has so many years developing ahead of him ... the cut short: loved it to pieces!
