Keep hoping Pellegrini is going to start learning from his mistakes, and keep being disappointed. Starting with those two slow coach centre halves when Kompany is fit was the first mistake. Asking them to push the half way line was an even bigger one!

I can see the reasoning behind the omission of Kompany from the starting lineups given the amount of games we're going to play and that, taking nowt away from Watford who deserved their goals, we have got a couple of tough league fixtures ahead. Last thing we want is burn out.

From my point of view, Kompany on the bench was fine, it was the omission of a midfielder to do the defensive duties that cost us in the first half. There was a massive gap midfield to defense which even Kompany would've struggled with. Pushing MD into the defensive midfield position solved many ills with the initial set up.

What we saw today had fuck all to do with losing form.

And at no point did I say we should sack anyone, although in fact we should.

My point was that we have some great players who can pretty much be relied upon every single time and who are the spine of our team. I am talking Hart, Kompany, Zabaleta, Silva, Aguero primarily. Then you add in some others who are real top quality - Fernandino, Negredo, Nasri. Perhaps add Navas and Kolarov too. You play a majority of these and you know what you are going to get. Quality and work ethic and almost certainly a result.

Then you have other players who are patently not as good, or who can be great but are a bit flaky. I won't name names, but the rest basically. Play one or two of those and that's fine, they slot in and support the main cast. But when you have too many b list players, we struggle. It's not the first time we have seen this, and that's why I say it's got nothing to do with form. It's about quality.

I am not suggesting we sack all of these, just that we don't play them all at the same time.

John McEnroe and Peter Flemming won everything in tennis doubles and Flemming was a donkey. But Mac didn't sack him. On the other hand, if two Flemmings had played together they would have got knocked out first round every time. Our supporting role players can do a great job in a supporting role. But not in the starring role, thanks.

you can't be serious

Yes. Why not, Einstein?

It's "You can not be serious". That's why he didn't recognise it!

BTW. Where does Yaya stand in the above list of players we can depend on........ ?

League Cup final, Check!

FA cup 5th round, Check!

2nd in Premier league, Check!

Last 16 CL, Check!

Last 19 games, won 17, drawn 2, lost 0, Check!

Only mistake was you logging on to post that shit!

Navas isn't included in this...

...but the lot of them were shit in that first half not just their performances but their attitudes to the game too. They should have had a penalty when Pantillimon creamed their little forward; the back four were terrible, particularly Dimichelis who looked like he'd been picked out of the crowd to play and it was his first ever game of footy and Richards who seems to have completely lost it; Yaya was lucky not to be pulled off as he was probably worse than Rodwell who was also shit but at least working hard (I think his ranking in the squad was the only thing saved him getting subbed); I felt sorry for Lopes because every time he got the ball Edin and Kun were stood still and did nothing to help him, he was also struggling due to the ineptness of the two CMs and it didn't help that he wasn't controlling the ball; that front two is our worst combination as a front two (Kun and Negredo are the best, Negredo and Edin are second best) but even so they didn't do a thing and had no movement about them.

Good to see the effort and determination in the second half but should it take Kompany and Zabaleta to come on for our players to be able to beat a bottom half Championship team?

Dimichelis' second half performance (which was only okay) saved him from getting one of the biggest roastings I've given a player on here.

Navas was excellent! Good to see Jovetić on the pitch, he could be important to us in the title run-in but it's early days for him yet as he's got a lot to catch up on.

We're through, let's forget about this one after this weekend!

Here is an idea :

Why don't we just sit back , strap ourselves in and enjoy the ride.

We are in the middle of our best run of form in my lifetime (45 years watching City )

Lost a full set of keys at the game yesterday obviously while celebrating, realised what id done when I got to my car van, went back to the ground and the stewards wasn't much help, any ideas of what the best root is to take? there is no number for lost property and supporter services isn't open while tomorrow.

Just like to thank the drama queens in match day thread kept me entertained

where is that thread? I always enjoy playing spot the matchday thread wanker after the event.

That thread was epic. Just as the second half started, there were two separate conversations going on. One was about the game, obviously, and the other was about how many Damocles had banned for requesting streams. Someone commented 'That's three now', and another said the same. I wonder how many blues, like me, thought that Watford had scored a third?
