Bayern's movement was simply brilliant pulling defenders and midfielders out of position, creating space and attacking it with relish. Fantastically strong, we were out muscled, out played and out thought. Extremely impressed with Bayern tonight who were fitter, faster, stronger and better technically.
As for us? Yaya couldn't get on the ball and when he did he was closed down and out muscled - something I find very odd writing given the size of the bugger. Dzeko was bullied all through the game and trudged off like the kid who's had his dinner money taken off him. Joe had a night to forget. Fernandinho's only mistake lead to their third. Clichy caught napping. Samir gave up at 3-0.
Positives - David returned and he was very good. Negredo's goal was excellent (although he should have scored with his header). Sergio ran his bollocks off for no service and few, if any, chances; I was glad he came off when he did (assuming it was to save him for Saturday).
One thing I will say - and I want to stress that I am behind Pellegrini all the way - but the team selection tonight was naive in the extreme. He was brought in to improve us in Europe, and in fairness we've just played a strong side that are champions of Europe, but I was amazed he set us up how he did. I fully expected he would have been a bit more conservative.
Disappointed we put in that display but full credit to Bayern who were superb. Only Dortmund have played better at the Etihad and we scrorped a draw against them! Credit to our fans showing some appreciation for Schweinsteiger and Robben too. Seemed as though there was a bit of a love-in at the end as well between both sets of fans with mutual applause.
Defeat is always hard to take, so as a City fan, I'm naturally gutted. As a football fan it was a pleasure to watch Bayern.
Are you fucking stupid ??? Fancy coming on here after that battering ... and finally someone who is talking sense !!
Too many people are always critical of blaming x,y and z,for defeats, but tonight I can honestly say that we were spanked, given a football lesson, call it what you will, but shit, what a performance that was from the Champions.
I`ve said it before, but sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and congratulate Bayern for that performance. Not only were they better, they were SUPERIOR in every department, irrespective of individual errors.
Well done to two of Europes finest wingers also.Fuck, I wish we had one or both of them in our team.
Juts got home after pelting down the motorway so not much time to post. Really went out of my way to go to this game as I am ultra busy at work so very disappointed in how City performed tonight. Agree with the comments above and there is no shame in losing to what is currently the best club side around. However, even allowing for that and Pellegrini getting his team shape and selection wrong, City did not put enough effort in. I'm not saying that they didn't try but against a team like that, you have to go the extra mile. I also think the team needs to be braver and my concerns about the menatlity of the squad won't go away after that performance.
One thing is for sure: that wasn't the perfomance Pellegrini wanted.
