They’ve already said they’ll supply us with gasTherefore hardly to do with gas prices as the US aren't doing anything.

The 1952 Olympics were held in Helsinki, then occupied by USSR.It’s not stopped many other finals and events in sporting history…
The 1966 World Cup and Euro 96 were held in England despite Britain’s involvement in Northern Ireland/“The Troubles” throughout the decades.
The 2018 World Cup was held in Russia despite them doing this to Ukraine for years. They also held the 2014 Winter Olympics right at the time they invaded Ukraine for the first time.
A Europa League final was held in Baku despite the Azerbaijan-Armenia wars over the ethnic Armenian area of Nagorno-Karabakh.
They were going to hold last year’s final in Istanbul despite Turkey pushing ethnic Kurds from their own land, in a war that has been ongoing since 1978.
Cameroon is currently in a Civil War yet it held the ACON (a Senator was assassinated during the tournament and about 500k people have been forced to leave their homes in the last 3 years).
USSR and China have been(/were) allowed to compete at sporting tournaments despite their Communist regimes killing over 100m of their own citizens over about ¾ of a century (although Cambodia didn’t compete in the Olympics for decades). Moscow hosted the 1980 Olympics despite USSR contesting borders with Afghanistan and other neighbours.
China has been at war or in conflict with many neighbours, including Turkestan and Tibetan nationalists within China… yet they were given the 2008 Olympics and the current Winter Olympics.
Even back in Nazi Germany, the 1936 Olympics were held there.
Fair comment, everyone makes their own decisions. Others may see my position as a cop out and I understand that but I compartmentalise sport and politics. Many countries invade other countries or facilitate such invasions by providing arms or logistical assistance and countless deaths result from political decisions. If I were to “boycott” any country which I thought had acted immorally I wouldn’t have been to China or Russia or USA or India or Zimbabwe etc etc.
Is it the pipeline from Russia to Germany called something2?
Why would Putin risk losing that by invading Ukraine? I cant help feeling that we are being fed BS just like wmd's in Iraq. Are you suggesting that the western alliance would prefer Germany to buy its gas from elsewhere ie uk, us, uae, or to put it mildly anyone but Russia. If that is what you are suggesting then we in the West are really playing with fire because Russia is not a small country with a few ak47's like Iraq. Anyway the first casualty of war is the truth.
I agree what you say at the end.....the media are paid by the politicians so one and the same really.
Apologies if it’s been covered already, but if the shit hits the fan, where does that leave abramovic ? Isn’t he quite pally with putin? I read the other day that as part of sanctions oligarchs could have their assets frozen/seized.
Thanks for the info. Putin should ask can he join Nato. That'd throw a spanner in the works of the greedy, self interested, sleepy headed politicians who treat the working class of the world like we are daft.

I see. Well thanks for the info. I like a bit of education. It all seems a bit like bullies in the playground to me. God forbid these world leaders will grow up one day and do the job they are paid to do. You know like keep their people safe, enough food, housing, health care etc etc. Suppose i look at the world through rose coloured spectacles but surely all world leaders will not always be bad.Basically Ukraine gets loads of money for having the pipeline run through their country. They used to get gas from Russia at mates rates, when Ukraine decided they’ve got a new best friend in Europe, Russia put the gas price up in Ukraine, which they didn’t like and refused so Russia ended up turning the pipe off on New Year’s Day, just read it was 2009 but thought it was later than that.
Anyway, that’s when things got a bit shit between the two.
Nord stream 2 means gas goes directly to Germany under the Baltic Sea, Ukraine don’t want this, and neither do Poland, as they both want the transit money.
The joke of cancelling Nord stream 2 is if Russia invade Ukraine, they don’t need nord stream 2 as they’ll have the Ukrainian pipeline. That said, that doesn’t increase the amount of gas they can deliver in the short term. But what Russia can’t deliver in pipes they turn into LNG and ship anyway, however it’s more expensive.
Europe doesn’t want the resilience on Russian gas, because if they have an argument the Russians then hold the cards, but Europe haven’t spent the money on renewables that they should have, because they’re stupid. So now Europe are all a bit fucked. Except maybe France as they use nuclear for electricity, most power plants use gas you see, so a high gas price equals a high electricity price too.
Ukraine want to join NATO after their falling out, Russia won’t have it and will invade Ukraine before that happens and have already annexed Crimea in 2014.
The west have their hands tied as they need Russian resources. So even if they want to get involved, it’ll only be by proxy.
