CL Final Venue | Stade de France named as new venue

No way is UEFA going to move the CL final from St. Petersburg; Gazprom is a major sponsor, if not THE major sponsor. Gazprom is run and owned by the same ex-KGB thugs who are now led by Putin and his cronies. Gazprom has it's roots in St. Petersburg, Putin and his cronies also have their roots there, it is where they learnt to launder money from illegal oil trading, then fraudulently gain control of Russia's banking system and natural resource industries.
We should know by now that UEFA belongs to the same club as the all the other hapless corrupt international organisations, where ethics, fair play and decency are inconvenient obstacles to be navigated around.
Don't think my Baltic cruise in May will be calling in there if things don't get sorted out pronto.

They're not the sole sponsor, nobody is going to want to be associated with Russia. The likes of Sony, Pepsi, mastercard, Adidas and all the other major sponsors aren't going to be best pleased with the shit they'll get for sponsoring a tournament whose final is in Russia and could easily put pressure on UEFA to move it no matter what Gazprom want if they choose to. We all know money talks with UEFA and if more money is on the side of moving it, they'll move it.

As you mentioned, nobody moved the sochi winter Olympics back in 2014 after crimea and the lack of action back then is now being used to show what happens when you offer such a weak response, they'll be a stronger response this time, there has to be.

Nobody will even be allowed to travel to Russia come May at this rate, UEFA will move it.

The IOC still held the Sochi Winter Olympics after Russia seized Crimea. If UEFA did move the CL final from St. Petersburg as a result of Russian aggression against the Ukraine then the UEFA personnel making that decision would become prime targets for a dose of Novachek, or simply a bullet. That is how the current regime in Russia operates.
Make no mistake on the powers at work in the Kremlin. Make no mistake either on the snowflakes at UEFA.

Point of order. The Sochi winter Olympics lasted from 7 to 23 February 2014 and the Russian troops went into Crimea on 27 February. They deliberately waited until the Sochi event was over.

Moving the CL final seems inevitable. As someone who lives and works in St Petersburg, I'd suggest that his native city losing the right fo host the final would piss the Russian President off more than most of the economic sanctions the west is likely to impose on him. For that reason, it has to be the right decision (even though I'd love loved to see City in that match a few miles from where I live).

Old Trafford would be a the perfect venue.

Imagine winning it there against the Scousers. ;-)

How come the Etihad isn’t on there, it hosted a Uefa cup final back in 2008?
It's all a bit cryptic. Officialy it doesn't take much to be a Cat 4 ground, in order to allow for qualifiers and some of the smaller Uefa tournament games, but they've indicated that they want stadiums to be 70k+ for CL finals. Old Trafford is a shit hole, but given how many it sits it will always win out for hosting in the north west over us and Anfield.

I always thought other things to consider is size of changing rooms, media centre and hospitality as well.

There's a whole list of cat 4 things you need to have that include those things and other things like space for refs, floodlight quality, cameras. But I think every premier league and championship ground would easily meet the criteria so that they could technically host it, but actually getting the nod is different entirely*!

* how much money you can punt to officials.
