Classic Rock (Phil Collins lives, run for the hills)

Not seen you around here in a while OB !!! Hope all is well ?
All well, thanks. This thread has been a bit neglected.

Mentioned this in another thread but we did go away for almost three weeks recently for a long overdue holiday in the US, much of which was a roadtrip, so lots of listening to Classic Rock radio.

Was pleased to find that very few tracks were played that I don't have although not much in the way of deep cuts. Most played bands and widest range of songs was Zep, still, and Def Leppard, which did surprise me a bit; although they are currently on a monster stadium tour.

Whitesnake, back when they mattered.
Micky Moody & Bernie Marsden; fookin’ bossing it

I saw Whitesnake a few times in their earlier days and more recently but avoided the last tour or two. Dame David has an extra singer to do bits he can't anymore.

First time I saw Coverdale was before Whitesnake were fully formed in a club gig on Oxford Road (Rafters?).

I'm reminded of a story going back to 1987 when I was working on secondment in Nashville and my wife to be (she actually said "yes" at the start of her visit - kept me waiting a month!) was sat around the pool at our hotel whilst I was at work. Also at the pool of our upmarket hotel (my employers were paying) were these scruffy blokes and my beloved was wondering how the hell they could afford to be there until she saw them again on stage at the local arena, where Whitesnale were supporting Motley Crue. Crue were so loud our ears nearly bled. Not sure now if it was 'Snake or Crue around the pool; probably Crue but a little tale I associate with both bands.

Off to see Uriah Heep at the Bridgewater Hall next month.
I haven't seen them since their 1977 Firefly Tour, with the wonderful John Lawton singing.
Should be interesting.

Can hardly wait for my late years concerts:
14-10 Airbag
7-11 Porcupine Tree (*)
3-12 Ray Wilson

(*) This (final) get together concert got some raving reviews from the US. Can’t wait to see Steven Wilson (prog rock king) and Gavin Harrison (one of the best drummers I ever witnessed) playing together one more time.
