Club Badge (merged)

Seen a few rumours today circulating about the possibility of us going back to our old badge.

Find it rather unbelievable considering the amount of new investment we've had which has embraced the new eagle badge, add to this Mansours interest in the bird

But yea from a good few sources we may be either going back to the old circular badge or having a new badge designed thats also circular (to correlate with other CFG clubs)

We'll wait and see. The main source is reliable though.

Oh that sounds good. @GeekinGav - have you had the call yet? Think it's time to showcase your designs on here again please.

Would make sense as would be in keeping with the rest of the CFG badges.

Loved the old badge. Remember as a kid getting birthday cakes that were designed like the old badge.

That's a falcon, not an eagle.

Could explain why the new South Stand extension has not received the present club badge on the exterior, as per the drawings?

I know Arsenal had similar copyright issues and decided to get around them by reversing the cannon on their badge.

And there was talk about United bringing the words football club back on their badge a while back.

In relation to people citing the Eagle on our badge as a nod to our owner?

Maybe someone can confirm, but I was under the assumption the sea and sailing ships were much more aligned to Abu Dhabi and this would fit perfectly with our old badge?

It would be great if we could return to the old badge and while we are at it move back to Maine Road and if at all possible get rid of all the players we have now and get some of the old shit back so we can watch us get beat by Oldham and Sheff Utd.

sad thing is mate there is an element of this forum that would love that!!!!

Would be just typical if we got rid of the 3 stars that symbolised three decades of not winning anything ,when hopefully they could symbolise winning the league 3 times !!

I thought the badge had a Phoenix on it not an eagle....a Phoenix in Greek mythology was cyclically regenerated or reborn which could have been the thinking behind it when we changed under Kappa.

It's the Manchester Eagle granted to the city at some point after the war by the Royal Family that United wore on their 1958 FA Cup final kit.
