I agree mate. I think the red on blue clashes and in monochrome the bottom half of the badge looks fussy and cluttered.

But I think going off the polls (over 60% for each) they felt that they had to include the rose and rivers. It doesn't look perfect, one or the other would have looked better, but their intentions were good.

I guess whatever the final design was, some people would find fault in some aspects of it, myself included.

When I saw the solid version and the flags, my instant reaction was "Manchester City" which I guess is the biggest compliment I could pay the designer. I never felt like that about the eagle badge.

In recent times it has become more a forum for budding Lawrence Llewelyn Bowens, Daily Mail reading whiners and conspiracy theorists.

What ever happened to football and correcting ignoramuses who refer to Barms incorrectly as Muffins.

Colour combinations, cerise, hogs bristle vs China white, overlapping graphics, comic fonts WTF???

Get more football on Mumsnet or the lifestyle channel!

I think the issue is that Instagram is mostly kids with no adult supervision. I'm sure the comments on here are more indicative...majority like it, some love it, some are "meh," and 5 or so are seething with hate.

I haven't a problem with all the symbols that have been included being included, I just feel they could have been incorporated into a better design.

There are about 30 active topics on football on the boards at the moment.

This thread has been really popular over the last few weeks, so there is obviously a lot of people interested in it. Do you think they should all stop discussing it and stick only to football so you don't feel insecure about it turning in to mumsnet?! ;-)

Always confused me why people with no interest in a topic feel the need to make a comment that other people shouldn't be interested in it either.

But one thing I do agree on, it's definitely a barm!

I do have an interest I just think it is getting a little bit too lifestyle channel ;-)

Haha! I know what you mean. I just think when anything gets debated for enough length of time it starts going to extreme lengths. I guess the bevelled shield is to this thread what the "False 9" is to the tactics thread!

No problem with "Barmcake" in it's proper context. But as long as you just say "Chip barm" I think we're in the same page!

It's the wrong bloody page but at least it's a page ;)

Seeing it embroidered on a shirt has made me fall in love with it, the clear details that you can see and scrutinize in a high res image won't stand out as much and it looks absolutely mint. Might make this tight arse dip his hand in his pocket for some official merchandise next season :)
 
Can't believe we replaced one of the best badges around with that. Like someone else said, it looks like a custom badge from a video game. I think every fan-made concept badge looked better than that.

Own goal by the club.
 
I personally love the new badge, think the Club have nailed it. Can't wait to see it on the red & black kit next season.

The new badge looks very similar to the 1972 one with some modern shine added to it. It looks good and those that have problems with it will eventually get used to it in time. Some people tend to react too dramatically to change but when the dust settles then I believe most will conclude that the new badge is decent.
