Community Shield Official Post Match Reaction Thread

Well, we were up 2-0 but the I think the loss was imminent...not to take anything away from the players but United was more dangerous all game.

Dear Vincent, don't feel so bad about that blunder...we still have the Champions League, FA, carling cup and the premiership!

We might have lost the battle...but we have yet to lose the war!

COME ON CITY!!!!

AGREED!!!!

Re: Erm...am I the only one who doesn't care?

Not particularly bothered personally, it was a combination of us being woeful and off the pace and the rags playing well, but, without a shadow of a doubt no matter how we try to dress it up, the rags will take confidence from this whether we like it or not or how good we can play in the future, we had a chance to play shite and still win and at the same time really dent their confidence, yet we failed in almost every aspect when it came to laying down a marker, that's what does bother me.

Re: Erm...am I the only one who doesn't care?

I wouldn't say I don't care but I'm over it already. That was only the third Community/Charity Shield I've ever watched and the first for about 15 years. I have never and will never consider it anything more than an exhibition game.

I am concerned, however, about how very unfit we were. Not just here and there, not just the players on Ramadan, but every single one of us. United were A LOT fitter than us. Sharpness, movement (lots of movement), crisp first touches, harrying when they didn't have the ball. In comparison we looked lathargic, leggy, we weren't on our toes, lazy lunges at the ball instead of quick studder-steps, our movement was poor and at times non-existent. I'm sure we've had a good pre-season but United looked a game or two further on in fitness terms than us. So I am confused and concerned why this would be. I thought we'd come into this season much better than last with it being Macini's and this squads first proper pre-season with no Euro's or World Cup to mess up preparations.

As for the game I'll lose no sleep at all, just looking forward to the start of the new season! next Monday now. I seriously hope we do a fuckin hard week of cardiovascular work, I'm actually glad there is internationals because our lads look like they need a good game or even two before the Prem starts!

without bringing into the hyperbole that will surely follow this loss, on the United side of things, anyone think Cleverly looks a bright prospect?

Don't rate Welbeck, has a lot of pace and work ethic to him but don't think he'll be anything more than a squad player on a good team.

We had a good laugh about it at the time but Smalling is coming into his own, very good player.

Jones might end up being a good player but he looks like livestock, so we'll always be able to have a good laugh about him.

To be honest I take more confidence from the fact we really were really poor yet only lost 3-2 U***ted aren't really that good.

But the end of the season, we'll see

Re: Erm...am I the only one who doesn't care?

Possibly. My wife and I have this agreement where she gives me two hours to grieve and then I'm supposed to come out all smiles...... so hello everyone, the sun is shining and its a beautiful day. Looking forward to next weeks game.

Very disappointing is what it was today.

We played OK 1st half and scored 2 goals which should have been built upon when in the 2nd half one of the best CB in the world is taken off at half time.

Really disappointing but we are not yet at the same stage as the scum when behind or infront. It pains me to say it but its true and no matter of money can buy the mentality needed.
That doesn't mean we can go on and win the quadruple this year for example however.

Re: Erm...am I the only one who doesn't care?

If it was a league game I would probably be feeling dreadful , but this game has had relatively little impact . For the 5 minutes after their goal , I was fuming but then you realise that it means nothing . The game has no significance or impact upon anything. Roll On Swansea

Phil Dowd is shocking, i just got back from the game and i'm sort of shell shocked. But OH WELL, it's not like it was a league game anything too serious despite how worked up we all were. Take consolation from the good points and have faith in the team to make up for their mistakes when it really matters! Come on city, we'll dick them this season.

If it was league game I'd still be gutted in three or four weeks from now. Like I said above, I'm over I already! Come on, the real stuff starts next week!

Where the fuck was Aguero in the second half??? Any official answer?

From the OS

“Aguero is not ready to play, he maybe could have played in the last 10 minutes but it was difficult because we needed tall players for set-pieces. Sergio needs to train more, he only finished three weeks ago and he needs to both train and recover. He does not need a pre-season like the other players but he needs to find his form.”

In other words, dees iz footaball.

Bobbins, never looked up for it, even at 2-0, didn"nt fancy us, Mancini got it wrong big style, dezko, touch like a blacksmith. As for ballotelli, he makes larry grayson look like a bouncer, waste of space, get rid.

Re: Erm...am I the only one who doesn't care?

Yeh I also don't care. This never felt like a real derby to me I wasn't nervous the night before or during the match and afterwards I just shrugged and got on with my day. End of the day it means fuck all and the overreaction on here is laughable as always.

Tevez...

Sorry but I don't give a fuck what anyone says.We missed his work rate and tracking back today..If this has already been threaded then apologies. We will miss his drive on the pitch when he goes.

Re: Erm...am I the only one who doesn't care?

what? we don't need to care because it's a MINOR TROPHY? a trophy is a trophy. im so disappointed that our boys did not fight as hard as the other side did today. they just did not show they wanted to win. the point is not they lost but how they lost.

We had someone on the bench with the same 'never say die' attitude but, bizarrely, didn't even give him a run out.
