Considering this wasn't a full strength team, can't have any real quibbles with the performance and great result to start the season with.

The formation gives us a viable plan b for when we need extra width. I still think we'll play some games with four at the back as it would be difficult to accomodate both Silva and Nasri as well as two strikers.

Man of the match for me was Zabaleta, top defensive performance.

Funnily enough i thought he looked back to his best.

Not that he played horribly, but apart from Savic I thought he was the least effective on the pitch (and if you look through my comments history--not that you'd really want to--you'll find I am generally a big fan of him). I am actually wearing the 09/10 home shirt with his name on the back, funny enough, so it pains me to say that. But again, seems I am in the minority.

Not always a good thing to go off but the commentator on Talkshite is now praising him.

I generally try not to listen to anything TalkSpite says. ;-)

I am perfectly ok with being the only one that feels this way and hope that my mind changes when the season begins (and that he stays with us).

Well i would say there was at least 3-4 thousand empty seats,i don't believe that many people paid for them and didn't turn up.

CFC and MCFC only had 26k to sell. That's about 20k sold to non-participating clubs. Perhaps the FA understands Community as being that - 20000 seats given to the community and the community doesn't turn up.

Just to give you a little support, I understand what you originally posted.

Nige did play well but there were a few times that he struggled to control some simple balls in to him, plus he does sometimes play the simple pass when there is a better ball on that a pro footballer should be able to make.

Today though he did help us to tick over, having Yaya next to him does make it easier for him as he can leave the tricky stuff to the beast, which is fair enough.

It's got nothing to do with City fans not turning up. Each club got approx 13,500 and City sold out. That left 15,000 seats allocated by the FA for Hospitality. Last season at Wembley the 2nd tier Club Wembley was half empty and it will be those tickets that weren't sold.

Ahh yes i had forgotten about that aspect thanks for reminding me!

The tickets they offer should have to be claimed or re sold really but i can see segregation problems there.At least it was on tv live!

Killer instinct in front of goal was tremendous. People say that can be lacking at this stage certainly wasn't the case today.

People will take different views on the two footed rule. Without a doubt it was a more aggressive tackle than the one Kompany was red carded for.
