Considering becoming a vegetarian

I went veggie some years ago couldn't stop farting. Doc said it was occupational hazard if you go veggie. Just as bad as cows for methane.
Your Doc must be about 90 yrs old and not cracked a book for 50 years!

My daughter is a vegan, lives with us, and I have not only never heard her fart, but I have never even known her to go for a poo!!

Everyone on here is quoting meat as an issue. Anyone still eating farmed Salmon?

We eat a lot of salmon and I doubt any of it has been rod caught from the Spey.
They farm bass in Turkey, Panga in Thailand, Oysters have been farmed for years likewise mussels and carp have been farmed for thousands of years not to mention other species of catfish.

It’s a bit early in Chicago to be drinking isn’t it?

;-)
It is, but as we pilots like to say, “it’s Happy Hour somewhere!”

I am heading for my first visit for a haircut since the lockdown began, as hairdressers just opened and today was first appt I could get, so no drinking and driving for me. But, with 21C and bright cloudless skies, it might be decent happy hour on the back patio when I get back!

You need to look at how Salmon are farmed. The most disgusting farming on gods blue ocean. Disease riddled and an environmental disaster. Has nearly wiped out wild salmon and sea trout in Scotland because of the infestation of sea lice round these farms. I wouldn't feed it to my cat.

We are built to catch meat, we’ve made a pretty good job of it!

A gorilla isn’t an ancestor, where are you getting that from haha?

And anyway, the point is we evolved into what we are today for several reasons, but eating meat was a key one and humans, on every continent since, have always eaten meat, therefore it comes natural to us.

I agree about quality and I agree that we should less but we’re talking about the morality of it and whether it should be illegal.

We didn’t stop evolving when we learned how to catch and eat meat. We used to live in caves as well

I’m not sure I can publicly post a phone pic on here and I’m not about to download it to some website to host it, but I jokingly sent my daughter a sign that said:

Being Vegan is a
Big Missed Steak!

I think it is funny. She saw the humor, but she is a 23 yr old SJW, so whatcha gonna do?!

No, we have neither the claws nor teeth of hunters and meat eaters. I already told you that early man only ever scavenged meat from 'proper' predators.

It's widely acknowledged that the neanderthals that ate meat primarliy were those who had no other option due to living is harsh cold environments where vegetation struggles to grow.

The notion that veggies need all manner of supps to 'keep up' with the 'real men' meat eaters is folly as well. Vit B12 is widely regarded as the ONLY think a vegetarian MAY (note, MAY) be deficient in vs an omnivore, but it's still subject to arguments. If vegetarians need all these vitamins and minerals...where are they? I presume there are swathes of them dying due to malnutrition?

Animals don't eat meat, they eat plants...and then will kill them and eat the products of their diet...why not just cut out the middle man?
Also it takes something like 9 calories "in" to a cow to produce 1 calorie "out" (i.e. what human then consume from it)...a total waste of time and energy all round - and a large part of why we have far too many cows producing far too much methane, and far too much land reserved for cattle crops, reducing carbon uptake.

Some of the peak of man, Roman Gladiators...mostly vegetarian, meat appears only as a status symbol in victory and celebration.

I'm far from a militant vegetarian, but there are 2 things I strongly believe:
- humans are utter scum with their excess farming and slaying of animals for no reason other than "hurr durr real men eat meat"
- a vegetarian lifestyle is FAR healthier than a meat-eating lifestyle.
