I agree with you these out swingers are a joke, just end up being hopeless floaters in to the air which are piss easy for the opposition to deal with. when Lampard came on was screaming for him to take the corners, he has an amazing delivery.jollylescott said:The problem I have is that I am scratching my head as to who in the team is able to take a decent corner.
Kolarov has ability but isn't in the team, Merlin and Navas are not producing the goods at the moment, Milner possibly but he is in and out of the team, neither of the Ferns can do it, Nasri is a possibility but is injured. In other words the options are very limited.
I think I would start by abandoning the out swingers. So I would switch Navas or Milner to the other side to take corners, which means Merlin has to take them from the other side. I know it's ancient history but when Edin scored against QPR to make it 2-2 in the title season, it was from an inswinging corner from Silva.
Ironically we have the players that CAN score from corners. Vinny, Demichelis, Dzeko and even Mangala are very good in the air. The ball is simply not getting to them. I know it's a well worn debate but I think they have more chance of scoring from an inswinging corner.
The other alternative is to always play the short corner. At least then we have control of the ball.

We can't practice them. Otherwise, we'd know who was taking them. That was a shambles before, Clichy, Jovetic taking them because no ownership was taken.

I think that's right. 14 IIRC. It'd take us about 2000 corners to get that at the moment.

To be fair, Nasri takes most of our corners when fit...he's shite at them too

What we needed to do rather than lumping it in the midst of 11 of their men was play it to the edge of the box where there were 2 or 3 of our players unmarked, who could at least have had a pop.
Because MDM is not flicking them on like he did on a regular basis last seasonFeed the Elk said:Lancet Fluke said:Feed the Elk said:I'm sure I read a stat that last season we scored the highest number of goals from corners in the league, or have I dreamt it?

So how the f have we gone from the best in the league to the worst?
