Corners

Funny to see so many frothing at the mouth about this.

Has scoring from corners like Stoke become the be all and end all?

Some of the finest players in the world playing for us that can cut sides open at will yet some not happy unless we are on the end of a set piece pmsl.
We have the most corners of any side in the league. For us not to be dangerous from corners is like Mayweather having the best jab in the world and not working something from it. Just jabbing jabbing jabbing all fight with no right hook to do some damage. For us to get the amount of corners we do and not be dangerous from them is a fucking joke. So I don't know what one you're laghing at, was it the Stoke quip? Jesus!

We struggled to really break Chelsea down yesterday. Three good chances and the odd half chancs from all that dominance. Imagine what a goal from all those corners we had (was it double figures?) would have done for us...

Our last two corners today:

First one,the cross hits the first man when we could have played a short one like we should do more of.

Second one, with ten seconds to go for the last corner and we take a short one instead of lobbing it in....Clattenberg blows the whistle before the ball goes in the box.

Please Pellers sort that shit out.

Correct sentiment but he actually blew the whistle as Courtois caught Navas's deflected cross from the short corner.

WTF we were doing with a short corner though when time was basically up is anyone's guess.

Actually worried we might not get the best out of Bony now. Can't put in a decent corner in hundreds of attempts and Navas couldn't cross the road let alone deliver one to Bony's head.
Bony is only 6 foot tall. Jovetić is taller. How many headers do you ever remember him scoring for Seansea? His game is not about having crosses put into him to head in. He is a footballer.

He holds the ball up with back to goal and brings other players into the game really well, he is a really good passer of the ball, he has a great first touch and a lethal shot. His game will be to link up with Silva Nasri and Kun in and around the box and I'd imagine Navas will be on the bench when they're all fit.
He's definitely scored some decent headers throughout his career, unless I imagined them!

When you put it in the box you have to win headers we don't do that either

No, but it is an integral part of the game (as are set pieces in general) and a useful weapon to have in your armoury. Chelsea have scored 11 times from set pieces this season; ours have been almost farcically inept. And that's only half the story, because defensively we've been arguably even worse. Simply eschewing corners because they're not our preferred MO, makes no sense to me

Bony is brilliant in the air.

That statement was ludicrous, the majority of bonys goals for Swansea came from headers.

Daft statement!

Competitive sport is about optimising your advantage. We have won more corners than any other side this season and should be earning more goals.

its bordering on an absolute disgrace how game after game we give away a clear advantage in so many corners

time and time and time again, inept deliveries from corners.

It's not just the attacking impotence that's the problem. It's the defensive vulnerability created every time we lose possession at a corner. Fair enough, I don't think we've actually conceded directly from a counter attack launched from one of our own corners but we're expending an awful lot of energy in racing back to defend at a time where we should actually be putting the opposition under pressure.
