Corners

I know this is a pretty obvious comment but I just don't get why we go for outswingers?

Anything has to be better than the shite we serve up at the moment.

1) when did we last score away - from a corner?
2) when did we last score at home - from a corner?

You can pick from - Lescott , Kompany , Demichellis , or anyone else?.
Come to think of it has Dzeko ever scored directly from a corner?.

Dzeko has ...some obscure game against QPR ;)

Good answer to no.1..............Yes - Dzeko against QPR - blimey - in 2012.i

Set pieces have essentially cost us four points over the past three games and this is something that really needs to be focused on by management. Perhaps Kompany will be able to organize things when he comes back but I still think we should focus on it . With the players we have in the squad, we should be formidable from set pieces- corners, free kicks, offensively and defensively.

What happened today was criminal. To allow the Everton players to get in front of us when the ball was whipped in was almost amateurish. Although credit has to be given to the incredible ball from Baines and the composure of Naismith but the defensive set up was atrocious. Hart, also should have stayed in goal, in hindsight, but with that ball and that defending, I doubt it would have made a difference and really he had to go for it as that may have been the only way to prevent the goal with our defenders being behind the Everton players.

We play a lot of offense and win a lot of corners and so we should be identifying this situation as something to capitalize on in matches so that we can score more and concede less at the other end.

dzeko as the swamp although it wasnt a header...last season too

Only time when i remember us scoring from one is away at arsenal at the start of this season! definitely something that needs work on in the training ground in future. Sure we'll sort it out though.

Last time we scored at home as far as I can remember is Kompany's goal v West Ham last game of season.

Since then we must have had over 150 corners in all games and scored once at Arsenal.

Actually didn't the Stoke goal for them come from our corner?

I don't no why we bother with corners might as well kick it out for a goal kick and try and score from open play with the time saved !

Last season we scored 13 goals from corners (the highest in the league), so one every 3 games. This season we've scored once. What's more depressing is that we've conceded more goals from our own corners than we've scored (off the top of my head Diouf for Stoke and schurrle for Chelsea).

We've also conceded against Sunderland and WBA from corners plus Everton and Burnley from set pieces.

We really do need to start scoring from corners as we get an awful lot if corners but do so little with them.

Although are corners are appauling, I think it's worth pointing out that Kompany and Dzecko have been out for long periods and we sold Negredo who all contributed to goals from corners last season

We were no better early in the season when both were playing.

Completely agree just saying that we might, just might have been more of threat with those playing as we were last season

Definitely need to work on corners as they can make the differnece in games

Corners...

Should we start taking short corners since we are wasting every chance this season (except one at Arsenal)... better to pass the ball short and create a chance than to hoof it and not get anywhere near?
