Everybody cheers when we get a corner but in reality only 3% are scored from.
That said back in 2011/12 we scored 15 goals from corners. This season it is 1 (so far).
Interestingly we scored 0 from the first 22 games in 2011/12 till an analyst persuaded Mancini to deliver inswinging corners and we then scored 15 at the back-end of the season including Kompany's decisive winner against Utd at home.

It's actually only 263 corners since Demichelis scored in the 83rd minute from City's 3rd and last corner in the Arsenal v City game at the Emirates back in September:

I think people stopped cheering for corners a good few games ago.

I don't have updated stats but as of mid-January Atletico Madrid had scored a goal from every 7.5 corners (12 goals from 90 corners). They work hard on them in training, perhaps more so than other clubs. A little effort reaps rewards.

Yeh it's a chance for everyone to check their phones when we get a corner.

Perhaps that's why we persist with same routine because they usually end up with a goal in training. You laugh but knowing city there might be some truth in this.

Ultimately the tactic we are using is shite. We use out-swinging corners and 90% of the deliveries are terrible, but when we get a decent one in the player heading it is usually behind the penalty spot because of the out-swinging delivery. This makes it near impossible to get a powerful, accurate header away like Demichelis' against Arsenal.

We need to change back to in-swingers, drop them in just outside the middle of the six-yard box, Silva was an expert at these in 2011-12. With the delivery vaguely heading in the direction of the goal it is a lot easier to score from one, often requiring just a glance or a flick towards goal. (Kompany v Villa, Utd; Yaya v Liverpool, Dzeko v QPR).

Whenever I see Kolarov jog over to the left hand side I give up before it's even been taken. Cue an out-swinging corner to be scored today...
