To all those who are struggling, just have a bit of faith for a few more weeks. Whilst the gov are crap at communication, they cannot sanction loosening of restrictions whilst the case numbers are so high. Yes, they are heading in the right direction, but they are not low enough yet.
It doesn’t help when the media ask dumb questions that neither the politicians nor scientists are in a position to answer yet. The vaccines are the way out of this, but they need 1. To get through the people at risk and 2. Data from the vaccinations themselves.
Change is coming, just watch those daily case numbers and hospitalisation numbers and then you won’t need an answer from Boris - you’ll be able to work out when restrictions will be lifted. And the good news is that both these figures are coming down nicely.

yes there have been plenty of dickish behaviour by the public but its a tiny minority and the vast majority have been good little girls and boys

I disagree a little. The data looks good but underneath it there are variants emerging which maybe difficult to wipe out. May. I think it's the uncertainty that's difficult to deal with. It really isn't clear how big a threat the variants are as we don't know whether the vaccines will hold their replication in check.
If we can beat down the original virus then the source pool for new variants will be gone and we can focus all the testing and tracing on keeping down the new variants. Then when its clear what we are facing we vaccinate again. We should get very high vaccination rates now because vaccination will be seen as the only way to protect yourself. You can't hind behind other people now. Once the majority get vaccinated, and providing it doesn't mutate significantly further then we should be OK to relax a lot of restrictions. That's what I am hoping for.
