Pay attention more to how travel - both across the UK and to outside the UK - will act as a re-seeding mechanism especially from less vaccinated nations.

She knows she will face pressure to move quickly into a kind of normality as numbers go down.

But unless we act more carefully and slowly we will be back in lockdown next winter. Which we want to try to avoid not throw away the opportunity given by the vaccinations and the optimism of falling numbers.

That sounds pretty wise to me.

Sounds to me like she is repeating what has basically been said by the government during the week .

Age is not the only criteria at all. Vulnerability is. Of themselves or someone they live with.

Now they have got through most down to 60 (and pretty much all within a couple of weeks probably) age will take second place to underlying conditions even more because the sub 60 age risk is not a steep drop like the 60 - 65, 65 - 70 , etc upper age ranges are - nor genetic factors that likely only the GP will know are relevant.

My GP told me that were I still a full time carer as I was for 14 years up to a couple of years ago I would have got mine in January. A month before I did. Just for that reason not age related at all as it was protecting a more vulnerable person who could not avoid contact with me daily.

It is a sign the vaccination programme is going better than expected not cheating.

Have they asked their GP why? This is a huge logistics exercise. But anyone over 70 who has been missed should 100% be asking why as they should have been by now.

It could be related to something like allergies and a need for specific vaccines which are not all in strong supply right now. For a week or two it seems. Pfizer is limited as they rejig their Belgian plant and a lot of it we have at the moment is starting to go to the second doses which are ramping up and were often Pfizer in the early days so have to be Pfizer now too.

But anyone over 70 not yet been contacted should be asking why and they have advised them to do just that.

It is open to over 65s now to do that as well so there must be very few over 70s not yet covered.

Below 65 they are focusing more in underlying conditions or vulnerability not just age if I understand the plans correctly.

Yes, Wee JK is repeating Bojo’s script and using “offered” vaccinations too. If it works, go for it. She’s thrown in a Scottish border reference for he core support.

England hospital deaths very good news.

309 - down from 494 last Thursday.

And 42 from the NW. which is better news too.

This fall is not slowing down by the looks of it.

Even at that low number - which will make the age % harder to shift much - it still - JUST - stays below 50% for the over 80s.

Under 60s over 10% again too. Which fits the trend inferring the vaccine is starting to have an impact most on the oldest ages given it first. As these deaths are really cases from only a few weeks into the vaccination programme at most.

Got a bit of a moral dilemma tonight.... i work as a psychotherapist and got an email tonight from the BACP - the regulator saying I can jump the queue and get a vaccine because I work with lots of vulnerable people. Will sleep on it... but not sure I want to jump the queue - I have no underlying health concerns so my instinct is to wait my turn... Any views?

It's not jumping the queue. It's a sensible move to vaccinate people in your position. Crack on.

One third of what they were three weeks ago is great news.

Especially as hospital numbers and ventilated patient numbers are falling rapidly too which should feed into future death numbers still going down.

I’ll just echo other thoughts... take the vaccine, you work with vulnerable people.

How would you feel if you gave covid to someone who died because you didn’t take the vaccine?

The vulnerable and those working with the vulnerable need to take it, my dad got one and he’s 51 and relatively healthy, but he’s on the testing site so they don’t want him giving it to people coming in to get tested who are negative.

The quicker people are vaccinated the better, even if a few non-vulnerable people slightly jump the queue it’s still good they are vaccinated.

You’re a good man for thinking it over and not wanting to take something that could benefit others first but you’re making the situation more risky for your customers/patients and you being vaccinated helps society generally.
