East down 17 to 141

London down 29 to 208

South East down 26 to 186

South West UP 43 to 125

Midlands

East down 3 to 279

West UP 29 to 238

North

North East UP 24 to 118

Yorkshire UP 205 to 589

And

North West UP 27 to 327.

Greater Manchester summary:

182 cases - up 11 on yesterday

Versus 352 last week and 402 week before that.

The GM % of the NW has fallen again and is at 55.8% - almost exactly the same as last week when NW numbers were twice today.

The spread of cases in GM today was remarkable in that it is the lowest between highest and lowest I have ever seen.

From top at just 31 to lowest at 13 - a gap of only 18 is extraordinary.

Manchester - top with 31 - is the lowest since Summer last year and a huge week to week drop from 80.

Bolton second on 24 is also half where it was last week so a big pop score fall too.

Stockport had another only so so day- comparatively given the other data - on 22 - though also down a little week to week so not actually a bad day.

Tameside on 21 is the only other borough over 20 and again that is down week to week a little.

Salford comes next on 17 - up from that 8 yesterday but well down week to week.

The final five borough are all separated by just one single case. Do not think I have ever seen that before.

Wigan on 14 is very low and a big week to week fall from 35. Rochdale also 14 down 7 week to week.

The final three boroughs all clock up just 13 cases.

Bury down 1 on the day but up 1 wk to wk and a run of cases in the last 8 days that is:- 12, 13, 15, 16, 19, 12, 14, 13. Consistently low and why Bury is now topping all the GM best numbers charts,

Oldham up 3 to 13 but down by 29 wk to wk

And Trafford down 3 on the day to 13 and down 17 wk to wk so probably deserves the top ranking today.

Are you suggesting that the scientists are only putting forward this viewpoint because they are not impacted by the decisions?

You do realise that most of those on SAGE work in Higher Education, a sector that is most likely losing an awful lot of money from accommodation, substantial fall in fees from international students etc.. Do you know that their families are not suffering economically and emotionally from lockdown?

You think scientists base their advice on what you consider to be the perceived impact on them? That's an odd take with absolutely no rational basis.
I’m suggesting that not working for a year is very different to getting your full salary for a year. That isn’t to say that the scientists are necessarily acting out of self interest but there in all history I cannot recall a single instance of following the ‘precautionary principle’ based on the worst case scenario, at all times.
You also seem to be suggesting that there is a single science and a single truth, and that’s just not what science is.

Moronic post
I’d forgotten why I’d had 3 months off this ‘discussion forum’ and you’ve just reminded me.

Just to be clear though, I have friends who have lost their businesses, jobs, emergency health treatments and even their lives because of lockdowns and yet, there are many sanctimonious people (usually not financially hit by lockdowns or still on furlough who think their job is still waiting for them) who say that anyone who expresses concern about lockdowns is a Covidiot or a moron. Strange times.....

So, if vaccination doesn’t stop you catching it, or passing it on, what’s the point of ‘vaccination passports’, other than yet another way to take away more of our civil liberties?
We are sleepwalking into a completely unrecognisable future so the already powerful can ‘keep us safe’, by becoming more powerful (and a lot wealthier).
The only possible useful thing about vaccination passports is they might just wake some people up to the dangers of living in a ‘show us your health papers’ society.

The total collapse of ‘proper’ work and a move towards a materialistic, social media driven, selfish society has left us open to being divided on everything and not to seek out an alternative view, but to attack anyone we perceive as having a different point of view. To snoop on our neighbours, to report people for seeing their mum and now, willing to accept any small crumb offered in the hope of some sort of ‘new normal‘.
This is no doubt fuelled by the biggest fear induced propaganda drive since Goebbels was alive and well, but it is not healthy and will, along with lost years of life due to lockdowns, be one of the longest lasting legacies of Covid.
To your question in bold...
Boris has said that these are miles off yet anyway, but the point is people don’t want to be sharing their space with people who could be carrying a larger viral load or a new variant of Covid that could kill us or someone we love because they haven’t had the vaccine. So we’d rather they weren’t allowed to be around us. As would other countries. Do you think Taiwan would be welcoming to letting Brits into their country if we’ve not had the vaccine? No chance! They’ll quite rightly tell us to get fucked, get real and get the fucking vaccine!

Due to being vaccinated, your immune system doesn’t allow the virus to replicate in large numbers across numerous cells in your respiratory system. Therefore, your viral load will be much lower and your chances of spreading a large viral load to somebody else is greatly reduced.

A lower viral load in someone else gives them a greater chance to fight it off without getting ill. And greatly reduces their chances of becoming seriously ill or dying.

A lower viral load also reduces the risk of the virus mutating because it isn’t allowed to replicate and evolve into a new variant.

Multiply this across the population, and the risk of spread, illness, death and new variants is reduced.

To the rest of your post...
