Asked about mandatory vaccination for NHS staff, Johnson says there are 18,000 people currently in hospital with Covid, which is "massively up", with the numbers increasing.

A sizeable percentage - 30% or more - of those patients have caught Covid in hospital, he says, before calling it "not acceptable".

Unless Boris has his figures wrong, 30%+ catching it in hospital is quite shocking.
It's mental isn't it.

I've told this story before on here, my aunty went into hospital for heart surgery in 2020 and caught covid in there. She never came out. While covid was one of a number of contributing factors and far from the "cause" of her death, if vaccinated staff can reduce the risk to patents by even 1% has got to be a good thing.

So frankly if you're a doctor, nurse, receptionist or toilet cleaner in a clinical setting and you've not been vaccinated, you're a fucking stupid selfish **** and I'm glad you've lost your job. I hope these people get struck off for life.

Tbh it's how I feel about the general population too. I've said multiple times on here I wouldn't employ anti vaxxers, give them sick pay or NHS treatment.

Fuck the lot of them, they can drop dead I'm not arsed.

Mandatory vaccines have certainly worked in care homes, where all non vaccinated staff were all sacked in November, in order to prevent outbreaks in those very care homes.

I've had "proper" flu twice in my 57 years. Wiped me out and I thought I would never get well again, but I did.
I haven't had Covid so far though (touch wood) and I've been in the office all the way through it. So, what I'm asking is, will we eventually see people with Covid, who perhaps have no symptoms other than a bit of a cold/sore throat etc (which my partners 74 year old dad had last week..."Covid" for the second time for him) being allowed into the workplace soon? As we did before when colds/chest infections could still be transferred to the vulnerable?

That figure could have been significantly higher with significantly more deaths if that policy wasn’t introduced.

Eventually yes.

Problem is they won’t get sacked. They will be moved to non public facing jobs.

Not really. Pretty much everyone is now going in this direction and the virus is clearly nothing like what it was even 12 months ago. Time to move on.
Almost everyone who’s worked, attended events or socialised recently will have been exposed to Omicron, just crack on but don’t have any contact with the vulnerable who are shielding.

Fair enough.....I feel similar about fatties, alcoholics and smokers.
That's a different argument all together isn't it? Overeating, drinking excess alcohol or smoking are not contagious like a virus and its been proven that being vaccinated significantly reduces your chances of passing on the virus.

IE being vaccinated isn't just a personal issue its a social issue and responsibility to others.

A lot of these staff will have antibodies having been in the high risk setting since the beginning of the pandemic and before vaccines.
It’s more nuanced than many will have it.
Your aggressive use of language shows you are not open to any kind of reasoned discussion or evidence which is still in its early days.

I’ve not got it yet and been in 10 days so far.
