I love ordering using apps or PWA. There's nothing more frustrating than queuing at a rammed bar where the lack of a vagina adds 10/15 minutes onto your wait. You also get coke-heads shoving past people rather than waiting their turn.

The perfect middle ground is to offer both, so that civilised beings like myself can sit in the comfort of my chair and order my food/drinks, while the riff-raff dry hump each other at the bar.
Yea I agree , this is what happened on my works Xmas Doo 2 years ago . We were in the Wetherspoons near the town hall . All the lads kept getup to go to the bar for drinks but my mate who I was in a round with just order one his phone . The lads couldn’t get their heads round it , but we never moved of our seat apart for a piss

The
Typical Guardian twisting of the story. Its not SAGE saying that but a team at Warwick University who might have input into SAGE but who have done a bit of modelling.

The worst one when they reported an ICL model which had an extreme worst case scenario of 6000 deaths a DAY with the lead story saying 'Scientists Predict 6000 Daily Deaths'.

It's a click bait pile of shite on a par with the Mail.
The Guardian and Mail's coverage of Covid has been consistently inaccurate and hysterical. Twisted and distorted and reported through their own biased political filters. There has been no attempt from them to report anything in a balanced and sensible way. You can't trust a word written by these two publications. The UK media has never been at a lower ebb.

When we're able to take that piss by app I'll be impressed.

To be fair, you don’t need to be an expert to be “increasingly confident that the worst case scenarios for the current wave are very unlikely to occur”. Fuck me, any of us are capable of coming to that conclusion.
Well, you'd think that logically the worst case was very unlikely, given the alternative options of bad case, medium case, good case, best case.

Comical that a defence about a headline can be that the detail says the headline is bullshit. What’s the fucking point of the stupid headline then, lol.
The headline and the byline aren't contradictory.

It is written for Guardian readers, who can read.

What a great day this has been.

Manchester looked wonderful in the sun, the city was packed with folk enjoying our great city, and we beat the "Champions of Europe" (ha)

More good news from England hospitals:-

Admissions for last two days (Wednesday & Thursday) back below 2000 on 1955 and 1916 - down from 2139 & 2043 last week AND 2370 & 2114 two weeks ago.

Only Yorkshire (not by much) actually up week to week. The other big regions - including NW -
fall week to week.

Patients fall by 256 - fourth straight fall. On 16,281 - up just 247 on last Saturday now.

Only Yorkshire (by 2) and South West (by 4) do NOT fall today.

North West down 69 - biggest daily drop since before Christmas - onto 3086.

EVEN BETTER IN ENGLAND HOSPITALS

Ventilators are down again by 29 to 608

THIS IS THE LOWEST NUMBER IN ENGLAND HOSPITALS ON VENTILATORS SINCE 21 JULY.

Remarkable for the middle of winter in the biggest ever wave and visible evidence that Omicron is not as deadly or getting onto the lungs.

NW on just 72

THERE HAVE NOT BEEN FEWER HERE ON VENTILATORS SINCE 20 JUNE!

England Ventilator number graph from last Winter to this. The difference created by the vaccines and the lower threat of going onto the lungs of Omicron is visibly clear.

For scale that peak last January is 3736 and the end point far rght now 608 - a sixth of the numbers a year ago.

Looking at its since mid Summer you would barely know that two major waves - Delta and Omicron - had happened due to how different they are to the one last Winter. The key difference here being the visible impact of the vaccines.

We shouldn’t be worried about another omicron wave particularly not one in the summer

So long pandemic.

Asking on here because I haven't a clue what the rules are anymore and the government websites can't keep up...

My young daughter has tested positive this morning. She had covid last October, just 10 weeks ago, and I remember something about not likely to catch again so soon and it could be false positives.

She's tested once to twice every week and this is the first positive since October. We'll do another test is this morning but if confirmed is it test again from 5 days, 7 days, 10 days, no PCR required.

At home and abroad. New Zealand was supposed to be strewn with dead bodies in the streets. They get about 50 cases per day (although the milder Omicron hasn’t really arrived yet).

No more tests needed for fully vaccinated traveller's..half term holidays should become a lot more simple. Announcement 26th January, the day plan b restrictions should be lifted..
