And today in Co Durham we have a barber opening tomorrow because she has the inside tract on what Boris is going to announce tonight. My son is a rival to her shop and she has been onto him on Facebook trying to get him to work for her til the shop he works in opens up again. Also appears that she used her £10k govt lane to purchase a car. I am sure these loans were not intended for such as this.
Also the Frog & Ferret pub in Spennymoor has opened for takeaway booze. Landlord reckons this is perfectly legal under lockdown rules. However, my wife used to manage a pub years ago & she thinks your licence only covers you for alcohol consumed on the premises. Can someone confirm if this is correct?
Have they had a business rates holiday?

Very quiet in Warwick both yesterday and today. Stood on a bridge overlooking the A46 at midday yesterday and it was deserted. People in gardens celebrating VE day at a respectful distance. Cyclists, joggers and walkers all behaving responsibly.

I think it's harsh to be judgemental on those people who live in urban areas and for whom the park is the only open space. I don't blame them for going out and, to me, they seem to be reasonably well spaced. All this talk of "cunts" and "morons" and despairing of society, I'm not seeing that at all.

It is being observed quite well in urban city areas quite wll near me, parks have been deserted and distancing observed.

But then you get videos of people on friday doing cingas, oops up side your head and other none distancing, those cockends in hebden a few pages back and the arses you still get in supermarkets once inside not fillowimg any SD tule.

That is why peole are saying some are idiotic.

The majority are respecting the stay home and self distance rules, but some who are at present will ease up if the government allow it, though many will, if they can still stay home as it's the sensible thing to do

The government will eventually move to who is more at risk who will have to stay locked down for ever and the ones who ain’t will go back to some normality because the ones who are not at high risk could get the virus but the % is so so small that they will die the government will be fine with that.

Yep. Its 'fuck it, herd immunity hopefully'. Second peak is going to be awful. Death toll is going to start to rise quite dramatically again in 2/3 weeks. Cheers, Boris.
People need to be able to earn money again at some point. That’s not wealth over health, it’s simply a fact that tens of millions of people and small businesses are teetering on the edge of insolvency.

What do you work as? Who pays you?

We had some bad news yesterday morning that the brother in law passed away in Leighton Hospital,Crewe. He had been in for nearly two weeks with terrible back pain, which eventually was found to be two ulcers pressing on his vertebrae.
We thought because of the nature of his rapid demise that it could have been cancer.
My wife spoke to her sister within the last hour and he passed away with this shit virus, which he contacted from somewhere in the 5 different wards he had been in.
She was allowed to go and visit him, fully gowned, with all the PPE.Our nephew phoned the hospital late last night and was told NOT to contact his Mum for 14 days as she was now under the self isolation system. He was devastated at the thought of not being able to give his Mum a hug,nor visit her at this terrible time. They also have another son and likewise the same situation for him.
We`ve already planned that Rex will be buried with just the immediate family being present and when hopefully all returns to normal (yes I know it never might) we will get together as one big family and give him the send off he deserves.
RIP Rex you really were a great bloke.

"stay alert, control the virus, save lives"

That makes the UK strategy explicit. The UK is not seeking to totally suppress the virus. The discussion as to the best strategy will continue but if nothing else there is now no ambiguity as to the road which the UK has taken.
Even the Germans and the French think that's the best that can be achieved without a total erosion of civil liberties.
