Feeling the pitches in Australia will be more like England but with a bit more bounce but the ball will move a lot more for mid pace bowlers! Where 300 will be a good score!

The Aussies will produce wickets to suit them ? So if you put your back into bowling the bouncer, you will always be in the game, Hard and Flat with something on the first morning for the bowlers with a fresh wicket and a hard new ball.

Nothing ever changes down under in the Ashes and the first 30 overs are key to the game,
If you lose early wickets you're bang in trouble and will be chasing the game, England will need a fully fit Archer and Wood for at least 3 test, then Stokes needs to back them up both in batting and bowling.

My pick for England's key player will be Joe Root and if he scores big runs, england will win the Ashes

The pitches have definitely changed in Australia. I've been keeping an eye on the Sheffield shield games and ball has been dominating bat.

The pitches were too good for batting and the shield was becoming very predictable, so changes were made. Also drop in pitches are used in many venues, and 3 of the 5 ashes tests will be played on drop in pitches.

Everything I've read suggests the Aussies want to play us on bowler friendly pitches because of England's attacking style with the bat. That might work in our favour because I like the look of our seam attack.

Cant see anything else other than an Aussie bumming.

Players on talkshite earlier moaning about the Aussie press giving them shit shows they've already lost mentally.

Part of the ashes down there was giving the cunts as good as they gave you and they respected you. If you're cry arseing about the locals calling you childish names then sure as hell the convicts will ramp it up.

Sheffield Shield games are one thing, but when it comes to test cricket you can bet your bottom dollar the wickets will be the same, their bowlers are well over 6ft and will want bounce and hard wickets with cracks on day one, it's tried and tested and in their DNA, England have 2 fast bowlers, but are not the same mode of the Aussies fast bowlers and dont bend their backs and use the wicket, Mark Wood can be very fast but lacks fitness, Archer can produce but again doubts are there about how many test can he play

Also, the new ball is not the best and goes soft very quickly, so that is why you need to bend your back to get the bounce on a good length,

Getting runs on the board will be England's best chance of winning the Ashes, give our bowlers something to bowl at and set a field to attack them

good to see the news this morning trying to claim that Stokes is showing some form and fitness because he took some wickets against.. England A in the only pre-Ashes match.
They did note a bit later that it's not the strongest opposition.

I'm fearing the worst again sadly. No-one seems to know what the side will be. The vibe seems similar to the Covid series when everything seemed cobbled together at the last minute. England have always loved a good batting collapse even at the best of times and this Aussie team will be a lot more prepared than us. We're one or two injuries away from a complete & utter pasting.

You never know. Australia have their own issues too. However, what they do have in their favour is home advantage and that's a huge plus in Ashes series over the past 25 years. Australia haven't won an Ashes series on English soil since 2001, and the last time we won over there was 2010/11. Keeping our fast bowlers fit for the majority of the series will be absolutely key so I agree that we're just one or two injuries from a battering. The way we bat as well - the attacking intent can see us get skittled, but equally we can take the game away from a team very quickly.

I'm not overly confident because things can so often go pear-shaped over there very quickly but I'm also fascinated to see how our positive approach plays out.

Maybe have my doubts!

Maybe have my doubts!

It's all about the 1st morning of the 1st test and standing tall and facing them head-on.
Forget the coin toss and batting or bowling first, produce the goods with bat and ball

England can win the Ashes down under and we have a very good squad, but Archer and Wood are a gamble and if they go down early, then we will get spanked 5.0

Wood went of injured! Just send him home now bring someone else!

It's not good news, but he is without any form of cricket and was the biggest gamble, Stokes has to step up and the spin bowler will now play, I see Stokes took 6 wickets. Let's hope he can bowl at full speed in all 5 tests

I see Lancs have apparently given Anderson a 1 year contract extension. After his limited role last year fail to get the logic of this.

I take no notice of any of these games before the test matches! They pick wickets that are totally different to the test matches! Where as when we got the ashes in our country we bend over backwards the the Aussies!
