Daily Express: Mancini to have contract extended

Not only that, but the negative press that has blighted City all season would stop in an instant. Not only do the press like and respect Mourinho, he is the only other Manager who can stand up to Sir on and off the pitch.

Can't agree with that, Chelsea got awful press when Mourinho was in charge. And he seems to have got even more obnoxious at Madrid, look at some of the press they've got (entirely due to Mourinho) in the past year or so.

I bet Dzeko was a board signing. Of course, I will never know whether that's true unless someone corrects me.

Mancini's target Cavani, the board signed Dzeko!
Mancini's target De Rossi, the board signed Hargreaves!

Who signed AJ & Milner.....?

the board made a big cock-up

tbh, Mancini has targeted Cavani since his Palermo days.

AJ was a mancini signing though.
AJ was Marwood signing.

The British press love Mourinho and he loves them. Wouldn't you say that's a fair assessment? Chelsea of course had some appalling press during his tenure, but much of that was down to Roman IMO.

As for how obnoxious Mourinho is - football press on the continent is very different. Much more obnoxious. Post match press conferences go out live on national radio and television. Journalists are much less respectful than the British press are. The environment is often incredibly gladitorial with managers tactics questioned. Team selection questioned. The journalists expect justifications for every decision the manager makes - and the manager generally has to try and give those justifications as they know everyone from the owners downwards are listening. Completely different to England where by comparison, post match (and pre match) press conferences are tame affairs with managers being allowed to speak in platitudes and cliches and rarely if ever getting challenged in the way they are on the continent.

I agree

A circus seems to follow Mourinho all over the world wherever he goes, and it would be no different at City. If anything, the media circus would be even LARGER.

Who was a Mancini signing then?

There'd be no circus if Mourinho didn't win. Nobody cares about "characters" if they don't back them up with results. If I have a choice between a "nice guy" who finishes second but is respected by the media, or a **** of a man who media hate but wins everything in sight, I'll take the latter everyday. I'm not into football to be liked by the media or by opposition supporters.

I reckon Mancini will still be here come next season. If we dont win anything next season though then Im sure he will be gone..

Lets hear peoples guesses.. and bookmark this thread!

Those talking about the squad and/or the best team, please remember the score at the swamp. Our team/squad beat them man-for-man but we don't play them every game. The problem, for us, is that United have to play every other team in the league and the respect afforded them, not just by the teams but also by the official's (Fulham anybody), is unparalelled.

United are looking at one of the highest score tally's in Prem League history (currently only 7 short of last season after 32 games with 24 to play for!) while we have already amassed the same points tally as last season with 7 games (possible 21 points) to shoot at. It's just unfathomable.

Looking back, after the Charity shield game and the way United started their season with 5 straight PL wins, with 3 of them against the current top 5, if someone had told me that we would've been top for most of the season then I would never have thought it could be possible (a quick reminder):

West Brom 1 - 2 Man Utd
Man Utd 3 - 0 Tottenham
Man Utd 8 - 2 Arsenal
Bolton 0 - 5 Man Utd
Man Utd 3 - 1 Chelsea

We've slipped a little, yes, but who'd have thought the Rags would get so many points? Afterall, many on here keep telling us that their squad is nowhere near ours.

He's got some fans in the press, but also a lot of enemies. If we think Mourinho coming in would stop bad press we'd be in for a disappointment.

Yet Fergie is not your best friend..
