Seems like One or Two not keen on Alves, if your of that opinion, can you name a suitable alternative who we can sign on a free or very small fee?
Do you ever have anything positive to say FFS ?
Yes, if anybody isn't sure listen to the podcast , if you're still not convinced after that fair enough.If you havent listened to the podcast yet from 93:20 http://ninetythreetwenty.com/podcasts/transfer-talk-iv/ good talk about Alves from hunter :)
Look he's knows all the tricks good and bad, multiple winner, knows Pep and his demands, still looks as fit as a butchers dog and is one of the top right backs out there and coupled with a fee of next to fuck all it's a no brainer.
Karen's getting annoyed so before we're actually made to stop by the mods I'll just say this;
You complain Alves on his own wasn't enough, you were told he wouldn't be the only signing.
You complained Tolmie & Sam Lee said we'd sign no defenders. That was pointed out to be false, he said no CB, and has maintained we'd sign 3 fullbacks.
You said it was a disaster to sign Alves first and how it meant the other deals were failing, and people told you deals happen at different speeds for loads of reason.
The reason people stopped arguing with you is because unlike me, they are happy to just leave the idiot throwing his own faces around alone. For some reason, I engaged, which was my mistake, even though you constantly changed the goalposts, ("There were no injuries for Bayern vs. Atletico!, Oh there were? Well it doesn't matter!"), and none of your arguments actually lead anywhere because they're based on the complete nonsense that Alves will be the only defender we sign.
However, I am learning my lesson now. I won't engage, I'll just set you to ignore, and maybe someone else will engage you next time, or perhaps they'll just let you be, and ignore you're deranged ramblings.
Very good pointIt is a shame that some people cannot see exactly what Alves brings to the table. Not only is he still a top class footballer with a good few years still left in him, he also has something that our squad, Yaya aside, sorely lacks and that's an elite winning mentality.
IMO, I think that this squad of players has underachieved over the last six seasons. It's easy to point as the two LCs and PL titles and say that's a job well done, however, we have never really exerted our dominance on the PL. It's no coincidence that both our PL titles have been won with us 'playing catch-up' or 'coming back from the brink' rather than winning with games to spare like United have done throughout the PL era or Chelsea have recently done.
We are a team of top class footballers who lack that ruthless edge to be an outstanding side. Then again it is no real coincidence when you consider the players we have. None of them apart from Yaya has that experience of playing for a side who is expected to win every game. The likes of Vinny, Kun, Silva, KDB etc were all signed from decent sides but not elite sides. You put them into a Barca, Bayern, Madrid or dare a say it, a United under Taggart, and they would quickly adapt to that winning environment. Yet we haven't seemed to have grasped that yet.
Pep has alluded to the lack of a winning mentality throughout the season and the only way to breed that is through winning or bringing in serial winners. If you want to see the impact that these sort of players can have on a side then just look at the FA cup semi-final. Only one City player refused to admit defeat, only one player was dragging this team by the scruff of the neck and that was a 34 year old Yaya.
The young players need to learn that and having the likes of Toure, Dani Alves and possibly Sanchez will quickly promote this and lift the whole squad.
At they end they talk about the type of player Pep will want,If you havent listened to the podcast yet from 93:20 http://ninetythreetwenty.com/podcasts/transfer-talk-iv/ good talk about Alves from hunter :)
