I shouldn't jump the gun but this great piece of business.

Seriously I thought £5 million was good business but getting him to end his contract early and sign on a free is fucking amazing business. Txiki is smashing it out of the park.

That interview he gave a few weeks back where he said Pep was a football genius was telling.

If you listen to Billy Shears interview with Graham Hunter though he does say that the relationship is good but not as good as you might think as there was some tension in Guardiola's final season. Graham Hunter was incredibly positive about Alves's current ability. Enthused would be downplaying it
The Pep factor is hard for potential recruits to dismiss, that's for sure

If I knew about gifs I'd post an an all singing dancing one ..cue popcorn cat?
Superb signing Blues!

It seems the experts were right all along .......... they say that you can't buy experience!

But it seems on this occasion you can get it for free ;-)

If it comes off I think it's a mint signing. He's fit, got the winning attitude that we need and most importantly he's still got it!!

When they played against Barca, they didn't play as risky as we normally do. And when they played against Real Madrid he was ripped to shreds. I'm not against him, I welcome him as long as we get every single first choice priority target we have and not settle with Dani Alves because the clubs of our other targets are asking for too much. Pep's given enough money to buy whatever he needs. Ever since I read Sam Lee saying that he'll wait to see out Mbappe situation before taking care of defence, I've been getting nervous about how important he considers defenders should be.

Bayern played in a 4-3-3 against Real Madrid in the first leg. The best chances they had when they turned it into a 4-2-3-1 but did not convert. Like this they lost the first leg in Madrid with 0:1. Sounds like a good result away from home - but it is a very tricky result as a ball possession team against a team that is so good on the counter. Bayern played the second leg more offensively - that was ok - but with a Schweinsteiger/Kroos combination and not with Martinez/Schweinsteiger. Real scored an early 1:0 after a set-piece - what meant that Bayern now had to do 3 goals to get through... - against a team with a solid defense and 3 fast offensives. With their second goal after the set-piece the tie was nearly over.

The match against Barcelona - Bayern was playing without Alaba, Robben, Ribery - with Lahm, Schweinsteiger and Thiago that just came back from longtime injuries - and the weeks before there were no chances for rotations because of a massive injury crisis and two Cup matches that went to overtime. In the Cup match Lewy got injured and after that played with a mask. To give up the second and third goal in the first leg was stupidity - but overall Barcelona in that situation was the absolute favourite.

It isn't done yet, but I believe it will get done eventually.

Walker is very good no doubt, but not sure it's worth spending 45-50m on him so he can play as second-choice to Alves for two seasons and be rotated for cup games and some league games.

Thoughts on having Alves as the first-choice and then having him mentor Maffeo as the long-term solution?
