Mancini loves rotating his fullbacks/wingbacks. Loves it. I think we'll see Clichy against any pacy wing play and Kolarov more with packed defenses.

Exactly. It's a great move because it allows us to really use Kolarov to his full potential, and it also puts Micah in a position where he is more free to drive forward. Also, the BM consensus always seemed to be that Dzeko just needed the service, and it would seem that this would also help address that issue. I love that we are adjusting to what we have, and if we do sign Agger, it's not some crazy behemoth vanity signing, just a proven Prem solid one that makes the whole team work better. Weren't able to sign a wing? No problem, just line up five across the back and play to the strengths of your fullbacks who have definite wing-back ability.

I'm really excited about this new direction, and the fact that we are using a lineup that is almost entirely already gelled and settled in together. (And even if Bob does play a more traditional formation, Agger is still a great signing anyway... As much as I trust Lescott, there will be plenty of games to be had and the competition will benefit both young CBs.)
For me Clichy is the best lb in the prem and 2nd in the world after Marcelo, he should be starting every game apart from early cup rounds and maybe the odd home game against inferior opposition.
Did Cashley die?

Re: Agger Bid

If Agger comes our defence will truely be rock solid. I like Lescott and he's had a great season but everyone saw last year when one of our starting CB's couldnt play we look very vulnerable at the back. This should sort it. Just need a winger too i think...Tho De Rossi would be an awesome addition!

-- Mon Aug 06, 2012 4:34 pm --

I know we're biased towards blues on here but given last years form he was the best LB in the prem, easily.

True, but Cashley is still up there with the best.

Clichy was world class last season, cashley is getting on a bit now still one of the best but clichys ahead of him.

Re: Agger Bid

Cole's the best, up for debate who is the second best but it's definitely not Marcelo imo.

I'd agree with that, but I'd rate Cashley ahead of Marcelo, at least defensively imo.

Not denying it, my point was simply that Mancini is setting himself up to make more efficient use of Kolarov when he does play. I'm a big fan of Clichy and he certainly is our first option, but again, lots of matches this year. I think AK will get more game time than you seem to want for him, but I guess we shall see.
