Daunte Wright Killed by Minnesota Officer Following Traffic Stop

and as he turned round had a milli second to decide to shoot or wait and hope he had and gamble he wasn’t going to be shot himself
So he probably shouldn’t have told him to put his hands up and turn round. The child’s fate was determined the minute the chase began, he was always going to be shot and killed.

I feel if he’d have thrown the gun in clear sight and lay face down he wouldn’t have been shot so don’t necessarily think he fate was determined because he ran off to begin with

But the cop told him to put his hands up and turn around. He wasn’t told to lie on the ground.

fixed that for you.

you don’t need to fix my posts the cop didn’t know he was a child and because of that the Cop is behaving as he would do chasing a man down a dark street

the kid was IMO looking for somewhere to toss the weapon and this unfortunately led to him being shot and killed

there’s a good scene in the film Sully where the talk about taking into account “ the human factor “ and this is something not many on here take into account for the police when dealing with armed suspects

Let's look at the human factor then. How many policemen in the US were shot dead last year? The numbers are so minimal when you consider the right to arms.

Lots of Brits seem to think the police over there are genuinely fearing for their lives but so few die from shootings that it wouldn't even be a concern in a lot of states. People killed by police officers would be a genuine fear though and is so unproportional that there is clearly an issue.

The numbers are in their tens for police but into the thousands for civilians.

do you think if you were that cop chasing the boy ( who he didn’t know was a boy ) down that entry at night he might have been genuinely scared and feared for his own personal safety and life, I’m 99.9% sure he would’ve have been

an analogy was used on this thread about cops training and KDB missing a penalty well if we also look at a huge reason why players who can usually put a ball on a dime my the target from 12 yards, it’s pressure, nerves and adrenaline. Now multiply that by a thousand of someone chasing someone with a gun, do you not think the human factor would apply massively in this situation where you’re dealing with milli seconds and life and death ?

I dealt with gas escape emergencies for 15 years and 95% I didn’t need to break sweat but the 5% that made your arse twitch you knew you were in a dangerous situation

the fact 95% were ok doesn’t mean I don’t have concerns about the 5% when they occur which I’m pretty sure would be the same for a cop chasing an armed criminal
