Ribéry cqn do everything that Silva can on the left, and more. What are these "so many" differences?

You've just been told over the last few pages from those who watch him in the flesh every week what Silva can do that Ribery can't. And you don't seem to realise that Silva's best position is actually in the hole or off the striker, but we play him wide on both sides because he's so damn good he can run games from wide, cutting inside. Comparing him to Ribery is daft because they are different players. He's stronger, more aggressive and strikes the ball better, but he hasn't got anything like the balance, touch, grace or vision of Silva.

I don't think there's a City fan in the world would swap Silva for Ribery, great player though Ribery is.

A pointless comparison, given that Ribery plays almost exclusively out wide, whereas Silva can play anywhere across the middle. I don't know if you're a rag or a German rag (Bayern), but just for info, if I were offered the opportunity to sign either (money not an issue), I'd pick Silva

I'd swap Silva for Messi but struggling to think of anyone other than him.

See, the problem here is that under Guardiola, Ribéry doesn't exclusively play out wide. And it's clear some of you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. If you don't think the European Footballer of the Year can replace David Silva, I have no words.

I won't bother with this any further.

Some strange posts in this thread. Anyway, this is how I see it.

Silva can be replaced. But unless he was replaced by Iniesta you'd have a different Manchester City. Could be better, could be worse. Who knows. But really Iniesta is the only player with a similar game and ideology on the pitch in world football.

The Ribery comparison I find odd. Explosive and deadly player, who can do many of the things Silva can and vice versa, but so many differences between them to make the comparison worthless. Very different players.

But yeah all that aside, Silva is genius. Its the intelligence that really impresses me. Often as football fans we see things before they happen as we have that vantage point that opens up the field of play. With Silva he does things you don't even see from that vantage point. Very few players have that for me. Its a very small band of players. Maybe 5 or 6. Silva belongs in there.

Agree with this. Very similar to Iniesta. And, as his game isnt based on pace, he will be effective for a long time to come. Great having Nasri as well, not as great with the ball but is a better finisher. Silva's finishing lets him down sometimes. Should score so much more for the fucking GENIUS that he is.

A good point. I remember we only got to enjoy about a season and a half of the genius that was Ali Bernabia (I still cream myself about him teeing up the Goat at Sheffield Wednesday and Gillingham), due to his age, but Spanish Dave has only just turned 28. All being well, someone that light on his feet and comparatively slightly built, should have another 4 years in him at the highest level. I hope he ends his career with us, and the same goes for Kun and Nasri. We've never had it so good

You show a complete lack of understanding of football to compare Silva to Ribery. No disrespect to Ribery, he is a great player but very different from David Silva

Where to begin ? No, can't be arsed.

Suggest you watch more of David Silva
