De Bruyne?

City will have set there stall out at a certain price wolfsburg will want much more and hope to get an auction going! City no that no other club is interested in the price quoted so will let it drag out till the last minute and get him at our price! Tuesday 2nd September 11am it will be announced!

Tuesday 2nd September 2025?

I ain't waiting that long

To those concerned about the price, if he did sign for us and was instrumental in getting us to CL final and then scored the winner how much would that be to City? The real question is, will we be a better team overall with him in it or not? IMO I think we will and at the current time so do MCFC.

Good post. But I can understand why people are annoyed and frustrated, and I don't think people are blaming City.
Not the sensible ones mate, but there are a few who've tried to claim City are doing things wrong.
As for the frustration, I can see how it can manifest if you stay on this thread for too long! Haha!

we all want him mate but at some point city think enough is enough? his price has doubled in the matter of months?? do you realistically think hes a £60m player???

Assuming that is now the expected price it leaves City with a dilemma.

We will have a maximum valuation that we can negotiate to which WFC are trying to find and after spending so much time on this player and wanting to be treated seriously by all top players, dare we really be seen to be frustrated by any hijacking attempt ?

The issue for me with De Bruyne is that I think he will be an improvement on Navas. If not De Bruyne, I still feel we need a player better than Navas and time is getting short. That's not flapping, just an honest muse on where could we strengthen? With players already added, or greatly improved, what was the perceived weak link is no longer the case. So an alternative to Navas is for me the area to strengthen in. I am not against Navas, he has raised his game, does provide speed on the Right side, but can get stuck like a rabbit in headlights in the box.
I don't think we need to strengthen an area of the team. I think we are looking to add the star quality that makes a difference at the level of the Champions League.

So far thanks to our seeding we've been up against the very best teams and been exposed but then so would any other club up against Barcelona who are probably the best team there has ever been. How can you improve on their front 3?

I am not aware of any "Galactico" moves between clubs this Summer so perhaps that explains City's determination to get him....if you want to add top quality to your squad where do you get it, because no one else has done it. Of course you can uncover raw diamonds if you take a chance. The other way of doing it is to gamble like Arsenal and Utd seem to be doing and wait until the last days of the window and fire off big bids to Real Madrid/PSG etc and try and pick up players who they are prepared to let go. Danger is that players like Di Maria etc may not really want the move.

Im in no position to judge a valuation of a player, but If Wolfsburg say they want 60m and City are willing to pay 60m, then that's what he is worth to both clubs involved.

The City 'project' is still on-going, and we need players of KDB's skill involved, to be able to make this 'project' work. The 60m will mean nothing the day we win the Champions League.

I don't think city are willing to pay £60m for him though mate. only an opinion but we do still have FFP to think about and the difference with pogba compared to de bruyne was the marketing side? pogba would have been shoved up to the front of every PR promotion etc alongside Sergio. I think the main problem though is the price just keeps going up and up! at some point we either set a deadline or walk away and look else where.

Maybe we are not desperate for KDB is the reason this is taking long longer?
I assume we set out our targets before the window, with some being more urgent than others. Getting Sterling has meant we can set a budget for KDB that we intend to stick to. This stance is an itelligent thing to do for future transfers. Letting other teams ask for stupid money time and time again will actually harm us long term. If other teams see we are willing to walk away if they get silly with the price, can only be a good thing.
As for KDB, I actually think we have set a take it or leave it fee. They know we are serious, so are leaking rumours to try and make us blink.
It would make sense that they are now seeking a replacement, as they know they are going to accept it.
Another team may try to hijack the deal offering more money, and we miss out. If that happens, so be it. If KDB is willing to change to another club at this late stage would show he isn't what we need.
The Rags might be seriously trying to hijack this deal after the embarrassment of the Pedro swoop. They probably think gazumping us would somehow show the world they are still a force to be reckoned with. (Aka Berbatov etc) The fact that they would have to pay even more over the odds to get a player who wants City would just reek of desperation to all but the most red tinted Rag.
As things stand KDB is not to blame here, he has agreed terms and left the big boys to it. If we cannot agree a fee, then it is us to blame for not wanting him enough, or them being unrealistic with what they want.
We fans want him regardless of cost or implications. Nothing wrong with that. We also want it to happen within 24 hours of hearing we are bidding. Again nothing wrong with that. But the truth is, many City fans not on forums think he isn't coming any way since the public statement at the awards the other week.
I personally think we have enough talent to do better this season already. But the inner kid in me wants sprinkles on top!
Can someone summarise this please? Too many words, hurts my eyes.

Read in Belgian newspaper today that manager de Koster is the whole week in Wolfsburg with KDB. He was saying that they are just waiting the green light from wolfsburg to go to city. He also told all the news about bayern and manunited was crap.

I read almost the same thing at nieuwsblad/sportwereld online. They said kdb is waiting to fly to Manchester until a bid gets accepted. He didn't know anything about any manu bid.

Every day he trains again, every day he's linked with someone else, every day his price goes up, every day he signs tomorrow, every day he ain't for sale, every day bild spout shite, every day we all join in, but every day city are silent. Reason?

I've had to update my KDB signing calendar AGAIN...
Sigh....
