Wolfsburg will attempt to keep Kevin De Bruyne from from Manchester City's clutches during contract talks on Monday.

City are ready to splash £50million on the Belgium international this summer as Manuel Pellegrini looks to assemble a squad capable of wrestling the Barclays Premier League title from Chelsea.

But the Bundesliga outfit are determined to keep the attacking midfielder and will hold discussions over an improved deal to stay in Germany on Monday.

Wolfsburg will try to keep Kevin De Bruyne from from Manchester City's clutches with new contract talks

Wolfsburg's pitch is likely to prove pivotal to City's chances of landing De Bruyne this summer.

De Bruyne's current deal doesn't expire until 2019, but Wolfsburg will offer him an extension with a significant increase on his current £40,000-per-week deal.

It remains to be seen whether the new contract will be enough to keep De Bruyne happy at Wolfsburg.

Cash-rich City and Paris Saint-Germain are both prepared to spend heavily, particularly in terms of wages, to land the 24-year-old attacker in time for next season.

Speaking last week Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs said: 'Kevin has a contract until 2019, so the signal has already been sent out. He will stay with us. We've said we will look at his contract.

'The aim is to take into account financially Kevin's extraordinary development. The best players should earn the best wages. We will make an offer to him and I think we will reach an agreement here very quickly.'

And yet http://www.goal.com/en-za/news/4682/transfer-zone/2015/07/06/13330232/-? are reporting it as €49 million (note that that is Euros, what a surprise that most of the media don't know the difference).

The Premier League outfit might be keen on signing the former Chelsea man but they have yet to lodge a formal offer for the 24-year-old

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has refuted claims that Manchester City have bid for star playerKevin De Bruyne.

De Bruyne still has four years to run on his current contract with the Bundesliga outfit but is seeking a new, improved deal in order to remain at the Volkswagen Arena.

City are believed to be monitoring the Belgian's situation closely, with the Premier League side willing to pay up to €49 milliion for the 24-year-old attacker.

However, Allofs insists Wolfsburg have yet to receive any formal approach from City - or any other club - in relation to their most prized possession.

"I'm not worried," he told Kicker. "I don't know anything about these possible offers. So, there's nothing to talk about."

De Bruyne joined Wolfsburg from Chelsea in 2014 and played a key role in last season's runners-up finish in the Bundesliga, with the Belgium international racking up a record-equalling 20 assists."

De Bruyne knows the German league will never make him a worldwide star. He probably also feels he has something to prove over here too after the way Chelsea let him go. I think is push comes to shove he'll tell Wolfsburg he wants to speak to any Champions League club who makes a serious bid. I imagine he'll do so with respect at first, but firmly, and more vocally if that is not accepted. Either way, I don't see him staying at Wolfsburg.

Although I have still never seem him have a good game. But that is not saying much, couple of Belgium internationals and a Chelsea game in the league cup. Still, he's obviously got it otherwise us and others would not be sniffing around, and Maureen wouldn't be getting his knickers in a twist about him possibly coming back.

It certainly did well enough for schweinsteiger, lahm, muller, reus, ribery, nuer etc etc etc...

Yeah but they all have to live in Munich which is an absolute shit hole.

Not really...bavaria is absolutely stunning.

These are the mega rich football elite, they don't live with the scrubs in blocks of flats.

Wasn't when I was there 3 weeks ago... Grey concrete buildings everywhere. No green space at all. Streets teaming with poverty and African homeless immigrants, seedy striper bars everywhere. The only thing it had going for it was the beer halls. That was in the city centre though, near the central station.

Berlin was infinitely nicer.
