De Bruyne?

I think it's a bit of equal and opposite reaction for most. There was a lot of talk going into the summer, more than usual (to which the chairman also added too), about how we were going to spend big money bringing in world class players. So far Sterling and Delph hasn't really hit that criteria. Even if we sign De Bruyne it wouldn't exactly be a hugely above average summer for a top club.

Yep the Chairman is KFA the least we could expect after his words of wisdom were De Bruyne and Pogba he may just have raised hopes higher than expected and if he had kept stum the majority of fans would have been happy with our transfer activity as it already is!

So when kdb comes we will have signed 2 of the brightest young attacking talents in world football and you would class that as a under average summer in the transfer market? Really? I think it will have been an awesome summer window that could still get better but if it didn't imo we would be 2 players away from really having a major shot at champs lge!

I think you're right mate.

Following what Khaldoon said, a lot of people believed we were in for a huge summer. That was added to by lots of Pogba speculation, and thanks to some snippets of info from Tolmie, and 'welcome to manchester'.

I think everyone was expecting an absolutely groundbreaking signing - and many believed we were getting Pogba, given how long, apparently, the club had been working on it. This is, obviously, assuming it doesn't happen.

I think that accounts for a lot of the reaction on here, rightly or wrongly.

If we sign De Bruyne I will be very happy with our attacking options and we are in good stead for a number of years. Considering Lopes, Barker, Roberts and Pozo are also future options and the talent beyond that in the academy I'm confident we are sorted for creativity if we can add De Bruyne.

In terms of central midfield, Pogba could still come. If he did then our central midfield looks very strong and the likes of Delph, Fernandinho and Fernando can all add workrate and energy alongside him and have enough quality to provide the support to our defence and attack. Without Pogba we will need to rely on Yaya a bit more than I would like. But with Garcia impressing in pre-season we're not far away from having a real talent of our own who can run the game alongside a more combative player/s like Delph. I think people underestimate how good Fernandinho is at times as well, I'm hoping he's had a good break from football as he is one of the best in the world at quickly turning defence into attack.

Left back we're not good enough and I'm surprised we've not looked to offload Kolarov. Clearly we feel we can cope without addressing that position for another season.

With Denayer coming through the ranks and the benefit of a seasons experience for Fernando and Mangala you'd hope our defence improves from last time out. Delph should also help with his efforts in the middle. Overall the addition of De Bruyne would be a quality window. Pogba would be the cherry on top.

I think the signings of 2 English players like Sterling & Delph IS an above average summer signing for a top club that already has top players. Both have already demonstrated what they can bring to the team - especially Sterling who has already forged a great partnership with Silva. In the past, an SAS front 3 has always produced success. Can't wait for Kun to return

Hugely above average. Not just above average. Sterling, De Bruyne and Pogba would be hugely above average. With all the information we had up until a couple of weeks ago that all looked very much on.

No, you're putting words in my mouth. If the summer ended tomorrow I'd say it was a plain average summer for a top club. One squad member, one genuine talent. Real Madrid, Barcelona, etc, sign genuine talents nearly every single window. Getting Sterling for 49 million just means we spent a lot on him. The most important thing this summer, or joint most important, was a replacement or solid backup for Yaya, which we've as yet not addressed. And it looks like the main target we've been working on for months to do just that might not be coming.

We can only judge the window when it's closed, I'm just offering up why people may be feeling a bit disheartened with our window so far.

Sorry pal but if/when we sign de Bruyne personally I think that would have been the best summer 2nd to Silva and Yaya coming to the club. The fact we have Sterling who I think will tear arse next year and de Bruyne looking as good as he does will be great. This is also added with good squad and young up and coming players added. Let's not forget too that we have hopefully got rid of Jovetic, Dzeko, Sinclair, Milner, Richards off our wage bill. If Pogba comes great if not I'm confident premier league is in sights maybe a year away from challenging CL because we would need a serious player in midfield and a left back and that team stands up to anyone. Verdict=Quality Summer

Well, Daily Star just reported "Kevin De Bruyne has admitted he would like to wrap up a switch to Manchester City."
