De Bruyne?

Not sure if you are grouping me into the 'spoint fucker' category.

Sterling is a quality signing. Delph is a shrewd buy, in no way is he the top category signing that was spoken about. That's Pogba and KDB.

And '5 times European Champions' - you sound like them mate! 'Prised him' - he wanted to go. Great signing though, and has looked brilliant in pre-season.

Regarding Delph - I'll play devils advocate. You want to talk about Liverpool's history when referring to the Sterling signing. By a similar token, we signed a midfielder from a team who have been fighting relegation mate. I think he's a good signing, but don't use one argument for one thing, and not the other.
I was impressed by Delph last season. He played at a very high level and put in some very impressive performances eg for Villa at Wembley against Liverpool. They couldn't handle him that day. I think he will surprise a lot of people. If there was an award for the most improved player in the Premiership last season it would probably go to Delph but maybe that says more about his game 2-3 seasons ago - Michael Brown comes to mind

Maybe just me thinking this, but anyone else think that there is potential for a Dzeko + Cash swap for KDB?

Edin had a fantastic record for them and knows the league after playing there for 3/4 seasons.

I wasn't putting you in that catagory but your point re Delph is ridiculous. Villa being in a relegation battle has no baring on either the quality of the player or the Sterling transfer, they are two entirely seperate things. By linking them you are actively looking to piss on my chips for the sake of it rather than making a reasonable point.

The Sterling transfer is an historic one. I grew up watching Kevin Keegan, Ian Callaghan etc winning titles & us trying to get back up there near them. Then I watched Barnes/Beardsley etc winning titles knowing we had absolutely no chance of getting near them.

To take their absolute best player & possibly England's best player in the next ten years, is a major event in my time watching City. To many on here it's just like buying a Mars Bar.

Wasn't saying he isn't a good player, mate.

Was just making a point that if you back up the signing of Sterling (which is a quality signing) with 'we prised him away from 5 times European winners', by the same token, the other English player we took was from a team who have spent the last couple of seasons in a relegation dog fight.

Anyway - a really pointless discussion to be having, and off topic. I actually think its a great signing in terms of value for money. Do I think he is the answer, probably not. Is he a decent enough signing, yes.

If we get De Bruyne and he is ok to play on the wing, Silva can move in the middle behind Kun. I think most of us would agree that this the position where Silva should play. So with De Brunye we would not just add a really good player to our squad, we could also move our (in my opinion) best and most important player into his favorite position.

So

................Kun
Sterling......Silva.....KdB

The question then is who are the two behind David. If Yaya is one of them we are back to square one in terms of offering any midfield protection.

Personally I've come to terms with the fact that clearly Abu Dhabi want the best value they can get both for outgoing players and incoming players. It's clear from Pellegrini's comments too that we aren't arsed about when deals get done between now and Sept 1st - which also means that the technical staff feel comfortable enough with the players we already have for the first 4 games of the season.

I realise that it's frustrating but I think the ownership are entitled to deal with things in this manner. They've been battered for overspending, yet every time they go to buy a player they get quoted outlandish prices and every time they try and sell a player the buying club wants to pay with peanuts in instalments.

That's fine, but if MP or anyone else uses the excuse "blah blah, didn't have a pre-season with us, blah" they can f**k right off.

Mars Bars always give me toothache. I prefer a Snicker (Mararthon to you Neville Kneville). But I agree with your post
