De Bruyne?

Khaldoon can promise many things, but until a player signs on the dotted line, nothing is ever certain.
Of course he's going to say we're aiming for the world's best players (and I'm sure we are). Getting them is another matter, and no club in the world gets every player they would like. The problem now is that fans have got themselves hyped up over Pogba, and if we don't get him, they'll deem it a transfer failure.
Many of the poster moaning about 'pessimists' will be the same ones calling for Txiki's head, or slagging off the manager because we didn't get him - as if the only possible reason not to land him is their 'failure' - completely forgetting Juventus / the player / the costs.
I would be disappointed if we don't land PP but do think that Sterling in particular could be stellar for us...... we can't force players of this ilk to join us, they have to come willingly.. I do still hope that we have offered €71 million reasons to come before we give up on the lad (PP)

I thought we spent months before the season ended planning these transfers?

The stuff that's happened with De Bruyne makes it seem like we made the first move this summer.

Not having a go here at all. Just would have liked players in before the start of the season but am confident we'll get them in before September.

We got the Sterling deal done in good time, despite Liverpool dragging it on.
We got the Delph deal done rapidly, even with his changes of heart.
That tells me we CAN get things done rapidly, so when things are moving slowly, it's probably not at our end. There's at least 3 parties involved in a transfer (sometimes more) and any one of them can start playing games / stalling.
I guess sometimes, it just goes to the wire - as it often does at every club, including our rivals.

I understand how 'blue-tinted moron' can offend other fans, but nobody seems to mind name calling less optimistic supporters. City fans shouldn't be turning on each other, be they at either end of the positive - negative spectrum. I don't believe any blue is a fan of City failing - but I do believe some don't want to get overly optimistic only to be disappointed - so they set out their expectations accordingly.

I agree -- I haven't especially enjoyed the constant "rag" epithet bestowed upon all and sundry who have a more negative outlook about the club. It's not fair either.

But some of those wanting to protect themselves by not getting "overly optimistic" are actually hedge-monkeys. In other words -- if we win -- yay, I'm a fan, I'm happy, we won. If we fail -- see, told you so, I was right all along -- yay, I don't feel so bad.

Those who are more optimistic don't get the choice of feeling good no matter the outcome.

Not all pessimists are like this. But there are some who are. And they post here. A lot.

As i've already said, i don't think he'll be here anywhere near the start of the season, more like a deadline day signing.
I can imagine us putting in a bid in jan if worst came to worse tbh.

Think we certainly need to strengthen defence and central midfield before the window is out, that's for sure.

Otherwise I can see us being found out yet again next season by the stronger teams. Hope i'm wrong but we certainly aint in a rush to do any more business.
