They have been talking about Niges contract for a couple of years now, in my opinion he dropped a bollock not signing the first one he was offered when he was one of the first names on the team sheet, since then he has slipped down the order and as such the club won't give him what he considers he's worth as he's become a impact player for us, coming on and releasing YaYa into a more attacking role.
Personally would like to see him stay as I think against the more attacking champions league teams we need a player like this.

I couldn't agree more.

I believe Mancini made a mistake in the Napoli home tie in not playing a three-man midfield of YaYa, Barry and NdJ and instead he went for the more attacking four-man front that he had been using in league games up until then.

Gareth and Touré junior could not cope with their counter-attacks and Nige was sorely missed, IMHO.

If you are reading this Nigel, you're right, there are some right tw@ts on this forum..

Whilst making all the right noises about wanting to stay at the club and saying he understands squad rotation and that he may have to spend some time on the bench, he refuses to sign a 100k plus per week contract extension.

Seems to me he wants to run down his contract, go on a free and get a huge signing on fee somewhere else.

Canny guy is Dejong, limited footballer too and Mancini can see it I believe.
That's right; jump to a conclusion whilst knowing next to nothing. Nice one!

It could be as simple as him thinking "I feel like a fresh challenge" - we don't know!

Plus he's far more dynamic than most give him credit for. Top player, very important in all big games he's played for us. In many he was man of the match.

Re: De Jong the mercenary.

The OP clearly appears to be on a wind-up mission.

Regardless of what he says, it's all about opinions. And in my opinion, he is talking utter biscuits and this thread is a complete embarrassment.

You sound like a Liverpool fan!

Downhill for him, unless he goes to PSG, München, Dortmund, United, Chelsea, Barca, Real and if Málaga book their ideas up (I think they are about where we were in the 2008-2009 season) there too.

Why do people think City are the world's number one, all of a sudden?! We're just another club.

Re: De Jong the mercenary.

One of the most honest, hard working, committed players ever to play for City and he gets criticised, only on bluemoon.

It's hugely arrogant isn't it? De Jong would get into any of the teams listed there, most of which are currently far bigger than we are.

He's the best in the world at breaking up opposition play and you know it.
one of. Not quite the best, he isn't even the best at the club in my opinion.....

Re: De Jong the mercenary.

I'm fucking sick of 'football fans' who slate players like De Jong. They are morons who don't understand that football isn't just pass the ball to Messi and let him do a load of tricks and score a wondergoal.

I was listening to 5Live yesterday and the commentator didn't want to talk about how close the centrebacks were because it was "too technical."

There are to many brain dead football fans with too many ill informed opinions.

De Jong rules out Bayern switch as Dutch ace targets more silverware at City

By Sportsmail Reporter

PUBLISHED: 11:02, 30 July 2012 | UPDATED: 11:04, 30 July 2012

Nigel de Jong has ruled out the prospect of a summer switch to Bayern Munich after the Dutch midfielder declared he is happy to stay at Manchester City.

The 27-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his current four-year deal deal and is yet to pen to paper on a contract extension.

Bundesliga giants Bayern are keen to offer the former Hamburg star a return to Germany but De Jong insists he wants to fight for his place at the Etihad Stadium and help Roberto Mancini's Barclays Premier League champions compete for honours on all fronts this season.

'I don’t want to talk about that at the moment, it’s not in my mind – however, I’m playing football and I’m happy here,' De Jong said, speaking to the Manchester Evening News.

'I’m happy when I’m on the pitch and when I’m playing; football’s the most beautiful game in the world and you have to enjoy every moment.

'We set ourselves the goal of taking it step by step. We won the FA Cup last year, then the Premier League last season, so the next thing is the Champions League.

'However, that doesn’t change the fact that we’re in for all the titles this year – Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup.

'We want to win them all but we have to maintain our focus.'

End of pointless thread.

IMO we probably want to sell but he wants to run down his contract to enable him to get a huge signing on fee.

Not really the end at all as he still only has 12 months on his contract and in 5 months time he can talk to foreign based clubs about a move for free

Try to read what De Jong actually says. Actual quotes from the man himself. Please, just try.
