Malouda, Fabregas, Essien, Lampard, Milner, Barry, Gerrard, Mascherano, Huddlestone, Zakora, Carrick, Fletcher, Cahill.........
They're all better midfielders than De Jong and they can all tackle just as well as De Jong. I can name another dozen or so if you want.....
As for the chappy going on about playing 4 striker and leaving a big hole in the middle, there won't be a big hole, just two mobile midfielders. De Jong leaves huge holes with his immobility and stuborness in not supporting play.

Joey Barton is still a better player than De Jong, really you may laugh but time will prove me right. The big clue is that our midfield will continue to be shit whilst he's at the heart of it.
It's been a pretty big fuckin clue this season!
I'd class De Jong as the least skillfull midfielder in the premiership, his one lauded skill is tackling, a skill which he can't actually perform whilst staying on his feet, primarily because he lacks the pace to reach people without sliding.

If I see a Nssan Micra at the front of a traffic jam, I don't assume it's roaring 1.0l engine powered it ahead of it's rivals, because that's just dumb!
In much the same way, our midfield hasn't powered us to where we are, it's our forwards!
Arsenal are better than us with some worse players in their team, go figure!

I've said it before....

DeJong offers little to our attacking options and in some cases negates them... however, he is the right man to bring on when we need to close out or hold on.

If we'd have signed Mariga or Gago, then I think NDJ would be on the fringe now.

Gago isn't really a defensive minded midfielder, he's a more central/attacking midfielder, similar to where Fabregas plays for Arsenal. He's not really a De Jong replacement, unless you're playing him and Barry in the centre of midfield in a 4-4-2.

Defensive Midfielder, Attacking midfielder, Central Midfielder... WTF?
A midfielder is a midfielder is a midfielder.. Herein lies the problem...
