No need for a press conference to announce your staying. IMO this into announce he is going and to explain the reasons.

One way or another the contents of this press conference should be leaked across Italian media tonight, right? Probably intentionally by the De Rossi camp.

For what it's worth I believe he would have a press conference out of respect to the fans, to explain his decision to leave
Why, when he leaves the dosh will help the club out of a financial dilema. The fans should say ' thanks fella you gave us your best years, enjoy your retirement'

Do Roma need the dosh - thought they were relatively financially stable compared to most clubs - they were in shit a few years ago but the new American pwners sorted them out

De Rossi, what an unbelievable player but am i the only one that thinks his love for his club is completely over the top and a bit embarrassing?

I love city to pieces, always will but if i played for them and madrid or barca came calling i would still go just for the experience especially if we had no champs league and fuck all chance of winning the league.

If you have any ambition Daniele you will challenge yourself if not your not the player that many think you are.

"Sorting" them out would be more like it. They aren't making any CL money this time around and I am sure paying FT a small fortune. They are looking to rebuild with some youth. I figure De Rossi tried to stay and help them get CL football but when that fell through he decided to go ahead and make the move for Roma's sake. It's win win win for all three parties.

IMO you don't have a press conference to say you are going. You do have a press conference to say you have had the most fabulous offer from City, that the board have been staggered at the transfer fee involved but having discussed the matter with the Chairman he has backed me 100% in the decision and my decision is that I stay.

1) It raises his profile evenmore with the Roma fans
2) It endears the fans more to the new owner and their project
3) It tells the Prem League that Seria A can retain its best players and money doesn't always talk.
4) Allows them to have a pop at AC Milan who sold Silva and Ibra.

All all this just before the start of the new season.

I will hold my hands up and apologise to the whole board if this is his farewell.

5) Rossi will stand Roma at the price City bid (if they turn the price down), dont really matter if he was found thru thier youth system and they aint got a $ in him, they'll have at least Citys figure in him if they knock it back (simple simon economics)....not forgetting our figure if pulled up in one hit will buy Roma 3x's that amount in the staggered payments marketplace. A little lesson Milan learnt when they blew the £40mill on Kaka by selling him for £60mill.
