He is not better defensively than Barry. The reason you think he is, is becuase he slides in and wins the ball back regularly. Well, Barry knew where that ball was going to be, intercepted it and passed it on already.
I like De Jong though and hope he stays, IFand only IF, he will sign a new contract.
