Deal agreed with Bayern Munich for Leroy Sane - €60m (including add-ons)

He's a German international going to the 8 times on the bounce German champions to play with some of his best friends. He's been offered three different deals from City. Absolutely nothing else the club can do. But yes sure, it's a mistake on the club's part for not being based in Munich.

By all accounts he was offered the same deal three times, rather than three deals. And by all accounts, a shitty deal at half the wages some of our equally potent players. add to that being left out to prove points and show tough love and i can see why the head would start to turn.

Might not have made any difference, and i'd reapect his choice regardless, but can hardly argue the club tried. Pep responded with cold and distance, which is fine, you don't like a player, pushing him out, with the success he delivers he 100% has that right. But if he is leaving next season too, a bit short sighted of the club not to protect an asset like sane.

Either way, when bayern caugh up, or take him for free, i wish him all the best and thank him for the memories

Really? I think he has improved massively in the left to the point I think it's his best position. He's never been a traditional crosser anyway so being able to cut in onto his right works for me.

Gutted about Leroy I still thought he might stay. If Bayern only offer us 40 million id sell him for 20 to someone else.

It narrows the pitch too much against teams who are parking the bus having a top left sided player gives us options we have b Silva mahrez and sterling who can all play on the right. The left side of our team is a constant concern along with right centre half.

Sorry Karen but not sure how you can be so sure that " whatever the problem between him and Pep needed sorting " , or that it was indeed " sortable " .

If Sane's head was completely turned and his mind was made up to move to Bayern, how is Pep or the club supposed to " sort the problem " ?

And if Pep felt that Sane wasn't giving his best during training, when playing etc - is he supposed to just let that go and keep playing him irrespective of effort/application ? Pep is not the type of manager who will " indulge " players who are not meeting his standards, and why should he ?

Ignoring the contract for as long as he has suggests Sane's intention was to leave, and nothing was really going to change.

I personally am pleased that the club have released this statement, as both the club and the player need to move on.

Pep is not infallible , but there can only be one outcome in this matter , irrespective of how talented the player .

agree with all that, Pep & the hierarchy have all the insider knowledge, he’s been phased out when a move seemed apparent, got injured and the status quo has remained the same....the only thing gonna change that is a transfer or god forbid the ban gets upheld, we could then utilise him for a season

The mistake, if there was one, was not selling him early last summer when it was already obvious that he wasn't going to sign a new contract.

I don't even hold it against him for wanting to leave, everyone gets a say where they want to be in life, but in that situation you move on and find the next extremely exciting player who does want to be here. It's not 1999 anymore.

How do you sell a player nobody has offered for? Were we supposed to hand him over to bayern for half the valuation, with the whole summer left of transfet negotiations?

I’m fairly dispassionate about Sane leaving, but there must be no rush to hand him over to a rival. If he wants to go no sweetheart deal with Bayern, put a price on him and let the bids come in. In fact any club still in the CL should pay a huge additional premium of say £40m on top of the £50m - £60m he should still fetch.

We should sell him for what the club wants get for him. If not leave him out till he leaves. Bayern want him for next season not the one after, if he does not go now, it will be nearly two years without first team football, not a great option.

No? But we probably could’ve engaged with them earlier than the very end and actually gotten something done with time to then go buy someone else of our own. Maybe other clubs would’ve gotten in the mix as well if our stance hadn’t been that we weren’t interested in selling. Obviously not suggesting we “hand him over” for below market value.

So you'd accept 25 million then?
We won't accept a derisory offer, there's obviously a cut off point when you say Sane can offer us more value by keeping him and playing him for the final year. Bayern if reports are to be believed have offered £35m (I don't for clarity, I think it was leaked to set a starting point in the negotiations), so they're clearly happy to pay upwards of that figure. How far upwards is a matter for Txiki or whoever to negotiate but we're not in a position to be demanding £70-80m because we just won't get it, as it appears Sane's heart is set on Bayern and Bayern only.

Oh well I like sane and what he brings to the side, but he wants to be somewhere else so either we get a decent fee or he sees out his contract, unfortunately for him he won’t be playing in the side again so could be a while till he plays actual first team football ..

I don't know it depends how badly a club want a player. Sure they can wait another year and pay nothing but can they afford to do that? Their domestic league is as good as sewn up every year but for the champions league they will need him. What we don't want is a long drawn out saga. Of course if we lose our CAS appeal it will probably weaken our hand more.

They'll have to wait 12 months then

Sorry but I hate reading this kind of thing,he is waiting on the club's to agree, until then he is our player and could be very useful,it is spiteful to put him in with the kids or rot in the reserves

Not only spiteful but idiotic as well. If we intend to keep him because of Bayern's low valuation then we might as well use him. No point in wasting the 35 million we may get.

It’s a contract
We honour it and so does he.
No need to be nasty but equally I wouldn’t play him either
