December 6th 1969 My earliest City memory. Whats your's?

I can clearly remember watching City on a rented TV for the 1956 cup final against Birmingham. My dad went to Wembley but I was considered too young to go with him. I might have been to Maine Road before that match but I'm not sure.
Exactly the same for me. Dad, Uncle, and brother at Cup final, me about 10 inches away from telly. Start of next season my first game. Saturday before start of season. City v City reserves at Maine Road. Sky Blue v Maroons. Start of a long and often fraught love affair with my club.

Still remembering the 56 Cup Final is amazing. You didn't rent the TV from Swales did you :)
Not Swales thank the Lord! Granada TV Rentals 10" B&W (on a 7-day trial). Half the street came round to watch. The telly came with an indoor aerial, some of the visitors took turns to hold it by the window. When their arms tired and dropped, the picture started rolling and the watchers screamed abuse at them. Happy days!

Wish I'd made a note of my first visit (whenever it was). All I do remember is climbing a lot of stairs and suddenly getting a view of the pitch. I'd never seen so much grass in my life, it was stunning.
Ah! the reserves, I used to go quite often as well; no entrance fee and you would walk around all round the ground nibbling on a frozen Jubbly.

I think the first time at Maine Road was 1964 for Bert Trautman's testimonial. I was 7 and remember little about the game, stood up, probably scoreboard end with my Dad, but no real memories.
Next was Leeds away in the cup in 67, followed by Fulham at home, in the Platt Lane, again in April 67, and just about all the home games since then up to lockdown.

22 March 1974 first game - Man City 1 Coventry 0. My entire family were reds so when the neighbour took me to see City my family then took me the following week to see Man Utd 2 York City 1 (in the second division) to try and convert me but it was too late. My 3 recollections were
'1' - United were on match of the day the week I saw City and City were on MoD the week I saw United and I was gutted because I thought I would see myself on TV
'2' City goal was scored by Colin Bell. Turns out it was Dennis Tueart and my memory was wrong
'3' until I researched this I always thought the United game was the week before the City game and my family took me to Utd first. I was wrong there as well

Back in the early sixties I was just a little kid but I used to go on my own to Maine Road. I used to get the bus to Piccadilly from Salford and then the football special from Aytoun Street.

I stood at the front of the scoreboard end which didn't have a roof then. It all felt magical to me. Bert Trautmann was the goalkeeper and my dad had told me about him breaking his neck in the FA Cup final. I remember idolising Johnny Crossan and doing a painting of him in school. I also remember standing behind the goal when Derek Kevan scored with a bullet header. There was a massive smacking sound as it hit his forehead and then a fantastic rippling sound as the ball ran down the back of the net.

Then there was the trip back to Piccadilly on the special bus. It took ages because there was always a traffic jam. I used to go on the top deck. It was packed and in my memory it was always raining outside and the windows were steamed up and you could hardly breathe because of the cigarette smoke. Somebody would have a transistor radio and all the chattering would stop as the football results were being read out. Massive cheers if United lost.

81 cup final.
I’d been to City before that but this one sticks out being a final, big day out etc..
I was only 7.
I also remember Oldham away when I was little, no idea on the year (early 80’s)
This one sticks out cos I was only young and small.
I remember this one cos City fans used to all push forward and I was getting squashed and push all over the place, then a blue, huge bloke, arms like tree trunks said come and stand in front of me.
I stood just behind a barrier and he put his arms either side of me on the barrier and every time the fans pushed forward I was safe as houses.
