So would I, and would have made that change at half time, Nasri is back to his worst, going backwards, taking the safe option, breaking moves down all the time. The thing is, though, I'm pretty sure from what I've seen Pellegrini gives the confidence players game time to play their way back into form. We've seen it with dzeko, de Michelis, clichy, and Nasri is the ultimate confidence player. That's why Pellegrini keeps picking him.

I think you are being harsh on Nasri. He can be frustrating and his form in the second half of the season has not matched the first. However, it was him attacking the full back and crossing the ball that led to the first goal; his delivery from the corner that we scored the third goal off was useful. He also made more passes than any other player on the park, with his usual high completion rate, so you can hardly say that he was not involved in the game. He plays it safe a bit too much, which the manager needs to work on him about, and he is never going to be a swashbuckling ball winner.

Just shows you how people see different things. I thought Nasri worked his socks off last night and after Silva was our MOTM.

I thought he was back to his absolute worst. Playing bereft of confidence, playing it safe all the time. He saw lots of the ball and broke lots of our moves down. He was a little better second half but not much.

I agree Silva was MOTM. After him I'd have said Fernandinho, Clichy, De Michelis and Garcia. And Jovetic when he came on.

Pellegrini is doing well in his first season. Next year with a few more additions I would expect further progress in the CL and another domestic cup at least. It took Bobby his 2nd full season to win the league and I think Pellegrini will do the same. Bobby was more tactically astute but boy I love how we play now. Freeflowing and freescoring
Agreed

It's not easy to walk into a new job in a new country and hit the ground running - as immediate loss at Cardiff proved.

But consider that after 2 months we were 9 points off Arsenal who were top. That could be regarded as a one off exceptional cost of managerial change.

Add 9 points to our total now, we'd be Champions.

The downside is that next season we will be expecting to win the League, and unfortunately this season was one where all our rivals, except Liverpool dipped. Chelsea I particular will be much stronger.

Yeah I second that. Looked fired up (possibly by the comments in the press) and his link ups with Jovetic helped us fill the Silva gap late on in terms of closing the game.

Chelsea with a striker
Liverpool with a defence
Us with a solid spine (?)
United with a manager that wasn't a free gift in a cereal packet
Arsenal with another marquee buy (?)

Exciting already!

Why aren't we starting with Jovetic instead of Dzeko. That was the surprise for me.

Jovetic, Silva, Aguero, nasri, Fernandinho, Yaya. I want to see this before the season is out. Jovetic had that morale boosting Chelsea game, and should have been in the starting line up regularly since then. Seems to be a much better fit in the team than Dzeko?

Jovetic is the only potential answer to the gaping hole Silva will leave during whatever absence we have.

He's the real deal.

Because when the ball is got to him he holds it up and brings others into play.
I really just don't get the Dzeko hatred especially he played well for 60 mins last night. Indeed, without him any chance of the Premiership would be long gone.

I'd settle for having Spanish Dave back tbh.

Agreed, stress on the potential part though regarding the answer to Silva. Jovetic needs a good injury free preseason with the team and an extended run in it. This chopping and changing despite some good looking cameos won't be doing him any favours. I wouldn't want to place too much expectation on him to turn it on in 4 games.
