Discuss Pellegrini (Pt 3)

He just seems particularly short of a clue.

I don't give a flying fuck about qualifying from the Champions League group stage, to be knocked out in the quarter finals. That does not represent progress when we're languishing in fucking 8th in the league. I want to see us compete domestically, what good is minor progress in Europe if it comes at total cost to our league campaign?

Who would've thought that after the easy start the fixture list handed us, that we'd be fucking 8th in the league by November?

Fucking garbage. Not good enough. Really angry considering Mancini's sacking was largely political. We've bowed to played power, we have too many soft and entirely useless bastards devoid of a backbone with inflated egos. The whole premise of sacking Mancini was that he wasn't getting the best out of his squad, he was too harsh on the players, too autocratic. They needed a more genteel and affable manager with European pedigree. Well, we have that now, and we're fucking 8th in the league, and those usual suspects are still putting in gutless and shithouse performances away from home, albeit more frequently.

I'm growing to believe that much of our squad needed an autocratic figure. Soft, spineless egomaniacs.

Excuse the rant, but I'm pretty fucking pissed off at present.

No doubt we will have some of the usual overreactions today.

Overall City dominated today. Sunderland barely had a sniff at goal in the game and their goal should not have stood: Milner was unquestionably fouled. Our shooting and final ball too often wasn't good enough, which is an old, old problem in games like this. We made 50 crosses today so we can't even be accused of just trying to walk the ball in.

I've seen complaints about the manager's team selection but that didn't lose us the game: a couple of poor referreing decisions did cost us.

The manager needs a solution to the away problems but he can't control referees, injuries and the need to rotate some players when the team faces so many games. He had them up and at it in the second half. He made the right half time sub; even if Garcia's withdrwal was enforced. Navas on and Milner to deeper central midfield was the right response.

4 shots on target, out of 24 is poor but 8 were blocked and most of them may well have been on target.

In fairness, was this Mancini we would have been lynching him. It is only fair we judge them the same way. Away we haven't been good enough. We have played well, but this is our worst start for 3 seasons.

I like Pellegrini, and he has got us playing some phenomenal football. BUT, we spent £90m over the summer, and lost, yet again, to Sunderland. We have won one away game, and lost 4 games out of 11. Imagine if this was Mancini last season. I was quite vocal last season in wanting Mancini to go- but we have to judge them the same way. Pellegrini NEEDS to sort out our away form. Top 4 is by no means a certainty- and that would be an absolute disaster. I'd be very surprised were we not to finish in the top 4, but there is no way you could say we will on current (away) form.

Pellegrini inherited a team that was having problems away from home. He has a mental problem in his players that he has to find a solution to.

The £90m people keep referring to was to replace Tevez, Balotelli, Barry, Kolo and Sinclair.

"Pellegrini inherited a team that was having problems away from home" and has made us worse !

City points tally after 11 games

13/14 - 19
12/13 - 25
11/12 - 31
10/11 - 20 (already played Spurs, Liverpool, Utd, Arsenal & Chelsea)
09/10 - 20 Hughes sacked for his start to the season
08/09 - 13
07/08 - 22 Under Sven

So there we go. It's our worst start since the season we were taken over. Pellegrini shows he is out of his depth each away game we play

That's fucking shocking.

Fucking hell that's painful reading.

Manuel Pellegrini says he is stunned that City lost to Sunderland.

Phil Bardsley’s first-half strike gave the Black Cats all three points and condemned the Sky Blues to a fourth away loss of the season – this despite the visitors enjoying two thirds of the possession during the 90 minutes.

“I really can’t believe we lost this match,” said the City boss.

Groundhog day performance followed by Groundhog day response from the manager!

Did he actually get up off the bench to say that os is he still sat there with his head down looking at the ground just mumbling a fucking way to himself.

He is a good manager. I wanted Mancini out. But you are being so tunnel visioned, and making such excuses that you would have called out last seasons 'Mancini inners' for.

We have had one of our worst starts for seasons, and still are yet to go away to Spurs, Arsenal, United, Liverpool and Everton. OK, 90m aside, we have a better team than last season and upgraded in almost every area. Having to swap Fernandinho and SIlva for Milner and Garcia is such a drop in ability, but you can't make excuses for this away form.

Or are you just deciding to avoid the fact that our points tally is poorer than our previous seasons.

Again, I like Pellegrini and think he will sort it. But to not admit flaws is simply embarrassing and something we would have slated 'Mancini inners' for.

-- Sun Nov 10, 2013 6:21 pm --

One thing we can all agree on I think is that Moyes is a shit manager, United don't have a team that's capable of winning the league and that they've had a shit start to the season (admittedly they've had a more difficult start than us).

I'm sure we all agree on those points don't we? I'm just grateful that we've got a fantastic manager, a great squad & have had a relatively easy start to the season. Thank fuck we're not in the same desperate situation as them, eh? How bad would it be to be on a par with them or even below them in the league after 11 games bearing in mind how shit they've been?
The same posters on here saying pelle is doing a great job are on the rags thread mocking moyes
Ycmiu.

Your post got me wondering if this was true. This is what a few of the most avid Pellers fans have said about Moyes...

Take your point about United being poor... just how much the rags played like Everton yesterday. So rigid, such a lack of creativity and flair. The fact Kagawa and Nani didn't even make it onto the field tells me everything I need to know about Moyes.

It's too early to rule out Moyes as a successful manager for them at this stage, but at the moment it's looking promising.

Maybe Moyes will be inexplicably good in Europe while poor in the league.

(Moyes)... has no idea what he's doing.

Moyes on very dodgy ground....... pmsl.

Are we 8th then ? I'm actually speechless

Six points off top spot - looks like the season is lost then!

My opinion is there is too much squad rotation going on. I would say Pellegrini is doing this to fully assess his playing squad and identify who is and who isn't up to the level required. He can only do this at the beginning of the season and in his first season.

Today, he had his hand forced by a couple of injuries, not sure what else he could have done. The team made enough chances and conceded a goal following a dodgy decision on Milner, but sometimes things don't go for you - Sunderland packed their defence and every rebound went their way.

This is where we'll see how good he and the squad really are.

He could have experimented pre season. I think I would be wanting his head on a platter if your theory was correct

Agreed. Honest question mate, what were your thoughts when you saw the teamsheet and tactics to start the game?

Honestly, when I saw that, and given it was 'away at Sunderland' I wasn't in the slightest surprised that we lost.

We were missing too many, the back four is too unsettled and, worst of all, it was 'away at Sunderland'.

On paper, in terms of our squad and even on the balance of the play we should have won that game comfortably - for me the biggest worry is that I am sat here now not fuming but feeling resigned that it was inevitable.

We are becoming a soft touch again at an alarming rate. We've always generously donated to charity cases (strikers who hadn't scored in months, teams who hadn't won away in years, teams who hadn't kept a clean sheet in living memory) but foolishly I had started to believe those days were gone.

'Typical City' came roaring back the day we decided to sack a manager loved by the majority almost exactly one year to the day after he had won the fucking title.

Cups for cock ups indeed.

Fair comment and I understand the injuries didn't help, however what disappointed me the most about MP today was that he picked the "safe" side when it cried out for a bit of invention. Change the shape, keep the same fullbacks instead of rotating, replace Silv's guile with Navas' pace - all simple stuff that I expected the manager to do. Instead he just hopes that Sergio and Beast can work their magic. As I said earlier, it also irritates me that he doesn't change the shape mid-match, he does like for like subs and sits there motionless watching the game. It doesn't inspire confidence.

I'm just glad I don't go away from home any more, I'd be fucking suicidal if I was coughing up my hard-earned to watch that shite.....
