I am still behind Pellegrini but I think the decision to let Barry go on loan was a wrong one. We could have surely afforded his wages for another year. Not saying Fernandinho shouldn't have been bought. But Barry should have been retained as well.

From reddit (courtesy macclesfield):

Loaning out Barry will not go done as one of our best decisions.

Although nothing like as bad as the decision taken by the "clueless manager" who loaned out Lukaku.

Loaning out Barry could end up being a master stroke, if Everton continue to take points off our title rivals

Sorry, we ain't going to do anything under this bloke. Never been one for knee-jerk decisions but we need to make a clean break ASAP in regards to him. You can just see in how easily we are beaten away from home that this guy is really going to struggle.Get Pochettino in from Southampton seriously.
You went wrong there with the not one for knee jerk reactions before calling for the biggest knee jerk reaction in prem history

LOL!

I think we have more clueless fans than a clueless manager, fans who are always calling for a bunch of new signings window after window and their insatiable thirst to turning City into their very own FIFA career mode. Players who helped win us the title a few short years ago are now after thoughts all of a sudden and not good enough to put on our shirt. Chelsea and United both have players that have been in their squad for a while now and helped win trophies for their club that some fans here would turn their collective noses at. Fans who are eager to get rid of a manager 11 games in but can't name a better guy. Swansea is poor in the league but finding success in Europe but their manager is some how better than our own, if you think Southampton are going to gain a spot in champions league, I have a couple of bridges in Brooklyn to sell you, remember Everton and West Brom last season? Remember how West Brom held a high position in the table for a little while then finished mid table? That will be Southampton this season. Klopp seems un inspiring and can't hold on to his best players year after year.

Grass always seems greener, we moan and cry about our but players not having heart or not getting stuck in yet fans start threads like these and can't get behind their manager because it's been an early roller coaster. We were laughing at United earlier but it looks like they are stringing results together and are "title challengers" again. That's all it takes.
Like this past round, teams are going to drop points we just have to take advantage next time as well as continue to fight and move forward. Is our away form shocking? Yes stats show 4 points out of 18 look crazy but we haven't been beaten convincingly in any of them and our worst game was at home to the best in the world. We won't continue to be unlucky and hopefully soon we can field full strength. It's not impossible and currently Bayern are on a run of 37 unbeaten, Roma of all teams won 10 straight so we can put a string of wins together and be right at the top by Boxing Day.
Spot on fans that would have sacked Churchill the first time a spitfire was shot down - fans a product of computer games and the Murdoch press!

Wasting a golden opportunity - get a grip .

Every single element of the club is light years ahead of where it was and there is a long term plan to improve every area every year!

What absolute crap some people post on here - this is a 20 year plan to make city the greatest sporting organisation on the planet step by step not an idiot throwing money at a fantasy football game to win a few titles!

Seriously are these teenage wind up opinions from people who understand little about sport or business or serious adult opinions ?

Heaven knows but I hold fast to the opinion that anyone who uses the term clueless about our manager immediately signals more about him / her than MP.

I think Pochettino is doing a good job, but so did Laudrup last year and where is he now.

I still dont think we`ve been beaten by a team thats dominated us, so imo we should give more time to get things right hopefully Pelligrini will stop this over rotation that he`s been doing, for example, no need to change both fullback against Sunderland.

stupidly leaked goals have been our problem all season probably because we`re playing to high a defensive line.

He didnt pull any trees up away from home at Malaga either

Think you are being a bit arrogant, if you think we can just walk in and take Pochettino from Southampton.
What makes you think he'd want to come ? Anyway I digress, I think we will do somenthing under Pellegrini.
We are all disappointed at the moment. But most of us new it wouldn't be plain sailing under new management.
I think the next 2 months will see where we are going. I'm hoping that come the new year we'll be riding high, still in
all the cup competitions and you thinking God! I hope nobody finds that post of mine.

Re: Clueless manager

Maybe we should all get on with doing OUR job and supporting our team, Pell will be judged at the end of the season, I have faith he will bring us round, the teams he is putting out should be getting results every game, the players need to start showing some pride in battle, simple as that.

Why are you mudding the waters here??

Off the pitch not one fan will say we have done anything wrong and delivering on investment, stadium expansion, revenues rocketing, new sponsorship deals, the academy etc.
On the pitch-let me put it this way..What do you think the fans reaction would have been on Sunday walking out of the Stadium of light if you had said to them-not to worry, all things are looking great for the 20yr plan, revenues are rocketing etc etc...Don't worry about our 4th "hiccup" away from home it's all part of the long term plan.
I think you know what the answer is.
After the game I would have been discussing the mistakes in the game, the lack of effort from Yaya, what we can do to be more creative am without silva , why aguero looked less good than of late and was pissed off by everyone as we all were

But when I have an argument with my wife I don't go straight to the divorce lawyer, when I have a bad day at work I don't resign on the spot, when the kids misbehave I don't call the orphanage. Football is the same I get pissed off about that day and that game but I don't then start thinking sell all players, sack the manager , we would be 10 pts clear if we had kept Mancini etc which is the mentality of a lot of fans, to be fair this is probably why I have had one wife and have a decent job!

There you have it - thats exactly what most of us are doing on the forum. Its just that we probably expected the manager who is paid a lot of money to be asking himself these questions before the games not after. If he is he's coming up with the wrong answers

Re: Clueless manager

The OP went to the game. I did not. He shelled out a fortune. It cost me nothing.

So IMO he can say what he likes without me being all pious on his wording.

However I have to say that having a thread entitled 'Clueless manager' prominent on the board for three days now is embarrassing for all of us.

Re: Discuss Pellegrini (Pt 3)

At Sunderland, Pellegrini's managerial performance fell short. Both his post-match interview and his attitude in the technical zone shed light on his faulty mindset.
Post-match
He claimed there was no need for a change in attitude because we've played better than our opponents in all four away defeats. You could sustain this argument at Villa Park, Stamford Bridge and possibly Cardiff. But not at Sunderland where possession statistics etc are irrelevant.
Here you had a real battle situation with a blundering ref who fell far below his normal level of performance,a rabid crowd fired up by fear of relegation, a team on a high since di canio was kicked out and with three pumped-up rags in their defence.
This all led to a siege situation but MP failed as a general because he left it too long to bring up all his guns.Garcia showed guts to soldier on after Larsson's horrendous challenge but he was knackered before he was taken off at half-time. Navas should've been brought on and Milner's role switched before then.
Micah Richards may have looked good storming up the flank against wide-open wigan but he was an embarrassment here. Zaba has far more savvy and more determination. He needed to be on far earlier than the 70th minute to be fully effective

Technical zone
MP needed to be far more pro-active. He needed to call out Mike Dean for his failure to produce even a yellow for Larsson. It may not have been a coincidence that, only a couple of minutes later, dean gave bardsley the benefit of the doubt when he pushed milner down.
MP was continually chatting with ruben cousillas and looking glum. If he doesn't want to challenge bad refs, why not let ruben do it?At the moment he looks to be just a Spanish-speaking buddy for the boss without an obvious matchday role.

Re: Discuss Pellegrini (Pt 3)

PELLEGRINIS MAN MANAGMENT OF DZEKO

1) City have won barclays Asia trophy and Dzeko was named the BEST player of the tournament
2) Dzeko have had great game against Milan and scored 2 goals.
3) Pellegrini had publicly said that Dzeko is his Main man
4) Dzeko was MOTM in first match against Newcastle ( by City and by league ) - Pellegrini said it was not enough, and he needs to score. It was f* 1 GAME and the Krul was great as he was for instance few days ago against Tottenham.
5) in 2 match Dzeko scored beauty opener at 52 min ( asis by.Aguero - who by some dont work good with Dzeko) and was benched at 69 min. by Negredo
6) Dzeko had played bad at 3 game and was subbed after 45 min ( ?? ), again Negredo
7) THAT WAS ALL THE CHANCE THAT HE GIVE TO HIM. AFTER GREAT PRE SEASON, MOTM match, SOLID GAME against Cardiff where he could score one more if he was not subbed and JUST ONE BAD 45 min - HE was made a SUB by Pellegrini and was THROWN OUT OF ROTATION ( which Mancini never did and he had 4 strikers not 3 ).
8) STOKE AWAY ( Negredo played 90 min + DID NOT socore or assist, Dzeko 0 min ).
9) Plzen AWAY Dzeko scored opener at 48 and was subbed at 83 min by Negredo. ( SOLID game for Dzeko ).
10) game against Man. United ( Negredo played first 75 min DID not score, but have had SOLID all around preformance ).
11) Carling cup game where Dzeko AGAIN scored an OPENER , SOLID again
12) VILLA AWAY. he played Dzeko and Negredo BOTH. Dzeko had looked at least not worse than Negredo he did not score or at lest have an assist, Dzeko AGAIN SCORED and was AGAIN subbed at 74 min ,and Negredo was AGAIN left for full 90 MIN.
13) Bayern game. Pellegrini knew that he have to play 4/5/1 like against Chelsea. But because having an easyiest CL groups so far he give Dzeko ( and Navas, Richards ) LAST chance for the starting SPOT. Very very BAD move and to make things worst he played 4/4/2 which was a disaster, Richard was fresh out of injury and Navas was wery bad ( guilty of 1 goal no assists ). Whole right side was terrible, Dzeko did not have ONE good ball assisted for him. Subbed by 57 min by Negredo. Than he PUT in SILVA he had made beautifull assist for Negredo he scored very nice goal ( at 0 : 3 for Bayern ). Silva of course took Bayern defance by suprisse becase he is MILES better than Navas. PERFECT SCENARIO he gave Dzeko a chance YEAH RIGHT. Now he have an ALIBI why not playing Dzeko. He had 57 min chance against Bayern.
14 ) vs Everton ( at home ) solid preformance By Negredo ( tap in at home ) 90 min, Dzeko 0 min ).
15) West Ham away Negredo 66 min did not socre Dzeko 0 min
16) CSKA moscow AWAY , Negredo 72 min ( did not score )
17) Chelsea Away ( Negredo just a few minuts - neutral )
18) Newcastle AWAY , Dzeko socred and asisted Negredo ( by beating his defender - a guy who does only scoring aparently ) , and got 9.0 out of 10 very good performance for Dzeko and Solid for Negredo
19) Norwich HOME. This game was a turning point. Pellegrini knew that City will won. After giving Negredo so many opportunitis and CSKA game in front ( which he knew he will play Negredo ). He should at least give Dzeko FULL GAME to score some goals which would be good for City in long terms. He did not. He gave him 45 min and he told a press that is just to REST NEGREDO. Dzeko Scored beauty goal where he beats his defender and scored from big range with his left foot and Negredo has scored a TAP IN goal.BIG MISTAKE. It was obvious that he does not care about Dzeko one bit and that he is DESPERATE for Negrdo to score some easy goals and to get foothold. The rotation was dead. HE forced Dzeko in his further moves.
20 CSKA home Negredo had scored against weak team which weas breaked by an early goal 2 TAP INS from 2,3 m and ONE SOLID GOAL with his head in 90 min. Dzeko did not play.
21 ) Sunderland AWAY Negredo 71 min no affect, no assist, Dzeko played for 19 had one great shot was at least AS good as Negredo.

PELLEGRINI FORCED Dzeko AWAY from this club. HE SHOULD BE blamed for every sucess/lose. He should gave Dzeko at least Norwich game so he can build his game so he can be at LEAST effective SUB. I fear that Pellegrinis master plan wont work. He will have more bad results. Dzeko will not bo so afficient SUB as he was, becasue serios lack of game time.

At press confernce Pellegrini said that Negredo and Aguero are GREAT but also midfield of Nasri, Silva , Yaya and Fernandinho. BUT where id Dzeko there, He said it all about his plans on Dzeko. MANCINI HAD ALWAYS SAID ( wise man ) when reporters asked him Tevez, played great or Aguero played great he ALWAYS said YES BUT I HAVE 4 WC STRIKERS. HE said at least 10 times that Dzeko is the one of the best strikers in the world. BY rotation he was keeping Dzeko Match FIT. Pellegrini had maid huge BET and RISK HERE, by totaly ignoring Dzeko.
The worst thing here is that Negredo is not twice the player as Dzeko so he can justify so many more games.

Dzeko is not his ONLY mistake. Not using Jovetic ( enough ) and playing average Garcia in front of Rodwell /( just take the last game ). You can add to that that he has no PLAN B and is to predictable. Against Totenham he will play: Hart, Zabaleta - Kompany/Demichelis - Nastasic - Clichy, Silva - Fernandinho - YAYA - Nasri, Aguero - Negredo. His subs will be Kolarov and Navas, the 3 one will be Dzeko ( if he needs to score ) or Milner ( if he need to close the game down ).

Negredo was BAD in ALL AWAY games where he scored only 1 goal. Where Dzeko with a lot of less minuts scored 2. The make the matter worse DZEKO WAS KNOW as CITYS BEST SCORER IN AWAY GAMES ( hard goals - said by Platt) where he was usualy very good but he was usualy bad/worse in home games.
