It is hard to say how i feel about the man to be honest. He comes across as amiable enough and calm but doesn't seem to be very driven or passionate. At times some of our football has been exhilarating contrasting sharply with some appalling defending. He is the polar opposite to Mancini and there are suspicions in my mind that he was chosen as a yes man, someone who will toe the line and not rock the boat.Perhaps the bigger picture is he was brought in to steady the ship and lay the foundations for the arrival of Pep Guardiola in 3-5 years time?
There is no real way for us to gauge his drive or passion. Shouting and screaming from the technical box achieves what?

A quiet man who barely speaks can be just as intense and driven as a "Craig Bellamy", what matters more is the decision-making and ability to convey their ideas to the team.

There are different management styles. Perhaps the best manager is someone who can raise his voice and anger occasionally where necessary. Someone who is always flying off the handle will have zero impact when they really need to make their feelings known.

I agree it just makes him appear bland and hard to form an opinion on either way.He is like the invisible man we sing about.Opinion will be formed come the end of the season and based on what we have achieved i guess. He inherited a strong squad and added 90 million pounds of talent to it.If we fail to win a trophy or make the top four he will be gone and classed as a wrong fit,no doubt about that.Let's hope it doeasn't happen, which will mean we are a success!

I dont know what's going on with Pelle but in Mancini's time here he hasn't been lower than 6th place at the start of his reign. He went third in his first full season. And in the last two seasons drops no lower than 2nd. Something just doesn't add up with Pellegrini.

It's not about where we're now it's about where we finish. Mancini had 2 seasons where it was between 2 teams us and the rags. This year the premiership is already much stronger. Forget about Mancini ffs he's gone and he won't be coming back.

Can we put this myth to bed.

He inherited a squad that was devoid of 2 strikers, our best defensive midfielder and no width.

He addressed those problems with the 90m........

That has provided him with a fantastic first 11 and a few excellent subs, however the depth of our squad, still lacks balance and genuine quality.

Many of our replacements would struggle for game time in teams struggling in the Prem.Hopefully our defensive issues will be next on the 'fix' list in January.

He needs to make his mark on the squad although it appears many don't want to give him the benefit of time in which to do so.

It's all very well saying that but who else can we compare Pellegrini's performance to? Pearce, Ball, Clark?? It's inevitable that he will eventually be judged against the achievements of the previous manager, whether that's in a good light or a poor one remains to be seen.

For all the excuses being made, we have a squad that should be doing much, much better.

People are talking a if our squad players are hopeless. Plenty of clhbs would love to have the likes of Kolarov, Micah, Garcia (yes even Garcia), Rodwell, Milner, Dzeko as first teamers let alone bench players.

Everyone needs go improve, including the manager. I reckon theres a good chance that will happen. But lets not downplay what we are capable of.

When you say plenty of clubs would love to have Garcia, which division are we talking about?

So you don't think the squad he inherited was one of the strongest in the premier league,in spite of coming runners up in that league and the FA cup?

It was devoid of ONE striker,Ballotelli who left in January,Tevez left after Pellegrini arrived.De Jong wanted more money and was replaced with Garcia who our new manager seems to rate more than most of us here.In his last season here De Jong was also rarely used.

Richards,Lescott,Millner to name just three would be in most premier teams first eleven. Our lack of width was down to Mancini's preffered style of play and Navas hasn't exactly ripped up many trees yet.

So in my humble opinion he added 90 million pounds of talent to an already succesful and strong squad. He didn't have to come in and rebuild a whole squad,or turn around an ailing club, the reasons most new managers are appointed. It isn't the fans that will not give him time, but our owners.Mancini won 3 trophies[if you count the charity shield] in 5 years after 35 barren years and was sacked. If Pellegrini cocks up with all this talent at his disposal i doubt he will be flavour of the month, but early days yet,we may yet gell and storm on.

-- Thu Nov 14, 2013 11:26 am --
