Eh? You could say that about every team just another piece of over the top hyperbole

Not at all. There have always been teams that on a good day put 5, 6 or 7 past the opposition. But when they need to roll their sleeves up lack the mental resolve. That is what we look like. Incapable of stamping our authority on away games.

And I would like to add that despite beating Tottenham 6-0, we are even with a GD of +26 to their -1 only 2 points in front. That suggests we score for fun when the pressure is off.

I think Keegan's Newcastle is a good comparison for us

Hopefully not, on their day they were mighty fine to watch, but ultimately it didn't amount to anything.

They were certainly the best team that season, thumped the rags, played better football, mentality didn't quite make it, hope i am wrong

I have been saying this for months - However we have a certain poster on here who sits at the right hand of khaldoon
He has direct access to the Spanish duo's email in box and has the sheik on speed dial. But in reality he doesn't even go to the home games (never mind away games!) but he knows all about MCFC.
The fact is we will NOT win the league as things stand. Our defence is simply not good enough.
That is not a criticism but simply a statement of fact.

No idea who you are talking about but he sounds like a right Walter Mitty type

You've got to remember the big hole silva leaves when it comes to passing and opening defences. That caught up with us today. We could be full strength for the first time this season next Saturday.

Nastasic?

Arsenal are better than us right now. Will be interesting.

-- Sat Dec 07, 2013 11:25 pm --

Can people not conduct a debate on here without the need to attack another poster for whatever reason?

I think I speak for all the mods on here when I say we have just about had enough of this crap now, after one poor result off you all go like rats in a sack pulling each other to bits, throwing personal insults at each other, every bloody time just as night follows day, it's boring and it's ruining the enjoyment of the the forum for many!

Now just quit it, by all means discus the issues bit leave the personal insults out of it, if you dislike another poster just foe him or her it's pretty easy to do

Reckon arsenal can do it. They have improved a lot but no one else seems to able to get there act together and are throwing stupid point away.

A good question. Could be won by default. At the moment the only side who seem reasonably consistent are Arsenal. But I remember Chelsea steamrolling everybody a few seasons ago and then going in to meltdown.

In these sort of circumstances you might be tempted to go with the best manager i.e. Mourinho. But I am not sure he is anymore.

Also if we got a good CM and CB in Jan then that might be enough.

So basically a point today changes absolutely nothing. The league's still wide open. Good, then as you were.

I still think we're going to win the league. Maybe Arsenal are the real deal and will not have a dip in form at any point. I'm more than convinced they will, and I'm still more than convinced we're going to win it.

Seems fair enough to me, consistency is the key though

Why not 4-2-3-1, I'm fed up with saying it?

Because Pellegrini is a 4-4-2 manager and set in his ways I'm just coming to terms with this Keegan type football and realising teams will be scoring against us in most games and clean sheets are a thing of the past...

Bravo!
Get used to Keeganesque type of football!
Exciting it undoubtedly is. Trophy wise it will draw a blank.
All successful teams build on a solid defence. We are building on sand...

One player missing simply doesn't wash i'm afraid
Silva may not be up there with Messi and Ronaldo, but he is by far the most creative player in the Premiership.

The way he moves and finds space is unique, and when he plays our whole game goes through him. If you look at the Spurs, Southampton and Swansea games, these are games where we had less than 50% possession. Had Silva been playing, that would have been very different. Look at the impact Ramsey has had for Arsenal this season, Suarez for Liverpool, RVP for Utd last season. There are some players whose quality lights up a team, and Silva is one of them.

That 5-2 win at home to CSKA Moscow came at a huge price, because at that time Silva was playing at his best. That was over a month ago now. Nasri has been brilliant in his absence, but to have Nasri and Silva would normally be enough to beat most teams.

Bullshit!

He played 4-2-3-1 at Malaga and i'm convinced it'll be more beneficial for us to play this system?
