No one would be happy with the sides performances to date or the results if you believed we had the best squad in the league and were playing accordingly.
In the hot bed that is Man City you are now expected to put in performances commensurate with that expectation week in week out.
We allowed Cardiff to steamroll us after taking an unconvincing lead and quite frankly the performances against Hull and Stoke have been just if not more dire.
As I said previously every side doesn't hold us in awe in any way shape or form at present and believes if they press us and come at us we will fold.
We should be bossing sides of this ilk not the other way around and whether its the manager and the inability of the players to buy into what is required does not matter , its the manager who will feel the heat with each passing match.
I think we will see very quickly whether MP has the skill set to match or exceed what he knows is required at the head of this club.
So far he has fallen well short of what is required.
I fear for his future already and his comments that he was satisfied with the performance at best are somewhat disillusional and at worst nonsensical.
Good post, particularly the bit highlighted. The signs were there last season when Dortmund, Liverpool, Everton, Southampton and Wigan all pressed us to great effect, and we had no answer, particularly the lack of an out ball. Above all else I think we should have been looking for some serious pace and power up front this summer, to keep the opposition wary of our exploiting the space in behind them. Benteke or Suarez (were he not such a horrible twat), would have fit the bill perfectly. Instead we went for Negredo and Jovetic, who, good players though they are with their own qualities, were not the answer to this particular problem, and nor, with his inconsistent first touch and lack of speed, is Dzeko.
I watched Everton last night, as Chelsea pressed them back in search of an equaliser, and Mirallas was outstanding in the role. Supported by Barkley, he was a constant one man menace on the counter.
Like you, I was concerned by Pellegrini's post match comments, not least his suggestion that as the league's leading scorers, there is little to be concerned about. 10 man Newcastle committed suicide against us, but in our other 3 fixtures virtually the only chances we created were the ones we converted. We look rudderless at the moment, and although the return of key players from injury will undoubtedly help, right now were I betting man I would have my cash on MP not making it to Christmas
