Discuss Pellegrini

The quickly growing swell of angst is understandable.

No one would be happy with the sides performances to date or the results if you believed we had the best squad in the league and were playing accordingly.

In the hot bed that is Man City you are now expected to put in performances commensurate with that expectation week in week out.

We allowed Cardiff to steamroll us after taking an unconvincing lead and quite frankly the performances against Hull and Stoke have been just if not more dire.

As I said previously every side doesn't hold us in awe in any way shape or form at present and believes if they press us and come at us we will fold.

We should be bossing sides of this ilk not the other way around and whether its the manager and the inability of the players to buy into what is required does not matter , its the manager who will feel the heat with each passing match.

I think we will see very quickly whether MP has the skill set to match or exceed what he knows is required at the head of this club.

So far he has fallen well short of what is required.

I fear for his future already and his comments that he was satisfied with the performance at best are somewhat disillusional and at worst nonsensical.

Good post, particularly the bit highlighted. The signs were there last season when Dortmund, Liverpool, Everton, Southampton and Wigan all pressed us to great effect, and we had no answer, particularly the lack of an out ball. Above all else I think we should have been looking for some serious pace and power up front this summer, to keep the opposition wary of our exploiting the space in behind them. Benteke or Suarez (were he not such a horrible twat), would have fit the bill perfectly. Instead we went for Negredo and Jovetic, who, good players though they are with their own qualities, were not the answer to this particular problem, and nor, with his inconsistent first touch and lack of speed, is Dzeko.
I watched Everton last night, as Chelsea pressed them back in search of an equaliser, and Mirallas was outstanding in the role. Supported by Barkley, he was a constant one man menace on the counter.
Like you, I was concerned by Pellegrini's post match comments, not least his suggestion that as the league's leading scorers, there is little to be concerned about. 10 man Newcastle committed suicide against us, but in our other 3 fixtures virtually the only chances we created were the ones we converted. We look rudderless at the moment, and although the return of key players from injury will undoubtedly help, right now were I betting man I would have my cash on MP not making it to Christmas

Like I have said before you and others are making snap judgements
Sorry mate but i have never made a snap decision in my life i am too long in the tooth for that, i have watched this team since 1960 and this smacks of and is on a par with the late great Malcolm Allison replacing the even greater Joe Mercer, it stinks and if people think Pellers is anywhere near as good as Mancini they need to have a look at themselves
The people who came on this board and slagged Mancini off thinking the grass would be greener once we got rid of the best manager since Joe should hang their heads in shame, its 4 games in and its like a massive kick in the bollocks on a cold Winters day.....its fuckin painful

fantastic post. you are spot on. I posted earlier that this is like 1971 all over again.
Give over

I am looking more at the people in charge of our last three transfer windows and those who appointed MP.

I wouldn't think they would be certain of there positions if the owners are serious about our credentials.

The big clubs in the big leagues that again will dominate Chumps League this year keep rolling along and the gap between them and us seems to getting bigger as each window passes.

What we have dished up so far this year wouldn't worry the sides well below Bayern and Dortmund in their table at present.

Somewhat confused about his post match assessment. My 3 year old could see it was anything but ok

I will guarantee one thing that all the knee jerkers will be nowhere to be seen when we get back to form, it's been the most embarrassing and cringeworthy few hours that I have ever seen on here, calling for the manager to be sacked after 4 games embarrassing

Its hardly knee jerk when some of us have been saying what a poor appointment it was since June.

FWIW unless we are in danger of losing out on a CL spot I think he should be given until the end of the season and I for one won't be hiding anywhere should he prove me wrong, I'll be delighted.

We could be in for a rude awakening on Tuesday fella aswell, there seems to be a lot licking there lips that we will just brush aside the Czech's in there own back garden.

The most worrying thing is looking at MP and his assistant on sidelines - no passion, no direction.
You don't have to look like Di Canio to be a decent manager.

I said it another thread though, whilst many are saying give him 10 games, at this level he doesn't have 10 games. Just like Mourinho, Moyes, Ancelloti, and Guardiola, they are expected to carry on where the previous manager left off, and/or improve on it.

The media (surprisngly) have so far let him off with the poor performance of the team, but that's because we have still taken 7 points, and kept 3 clean sheets, its glossing over the reality of the performances though, which are substandard, and currently look neither one thing nor the other in style of play.

I second and third that. Considering that it's more on the players getting familiar with each other and learning the system, than the manager having to "teach" these great players to play. Look at Real Madrid's game today.

don't see many calling for his head, everyone knows he needs time to get his ideas across and that can only be done in game time. the worrying thing is there seems to be absolutely no cohersion, no direction or foundation to our team to start that gelling process. course the other thing is that in the prem you simply don't get that time. our season could be over by the time it all drops in to place. the FA cup could be a blessing as we'll be sorted by then. a CL run is also on the cards if we can blag the early games in the group whilst we find our feet.
